in two deaths and injury
to several others, resulted in
a week of acute tension in
the ancient town and the im-
position by Israeli authori-
ties of a strict curfew aimed
at preventing further out-
breaks.
The trouble started when
Moslem youngsters insulted
and attacked Christian Arab
Boy Scouts. A stiff curfew was
relaxed towards the end of
the week to permit villagers
to buy food, and was then
resumed on a dusk to dawn
basis.
Eight youthful Arab Cath-

volved in the clashes have
been charged with murder.
They were arraigned before a
magistrate in Tiberias and
sent to prison until the court
hears the case in two weeks.
