THE JEWISH NEWS-37 TV Play in Britain Angers Jewish Viewers Friday, April 11, 1952 HIAS Introduces Sisters Meeting for First Time LONDON, (JTA)—The Israel legation made representations to the British Broadcasting Cor- poration following the screening of a television play, "The Pris- oner," a central character of which was an Israeli officer who was depicted as a Hitler-type Britain-hater who made obscene gestures before a statue of Christ. A second character, referred to in the dialogue but not shown on the screen is an Israeli Cabinet minister who is described as a Nazi collaborator. The play also suggests that Israelis delight in maltreating Arabs. The Board of Deputies of Brit- ish Jews, representative body of British Jewry, is reported to be considering a :o r m al com- plaint to the BBC and the Coun- cil of Christians and Jews has Under taken an investigation. BBC is understood to have re- ceived numerous complaints following the screening of the play. Salon De Beanie And Thou bast made him a little less than angels.—Psalms.
