at a bruncheon in honor of ABE KASLE, general
campaign chairman, on the eve of his departure
for Israel.
An interesting feature of this affair was the
service rendered by one of the Center's teenage
clubs, the Red Devils. The girls had volunteered
to serve the food at this bruncheon and were

Single Local Body

CINCINNATI, (JTA)—A spe-
cial meeting of the Jewish
Coriimunity Council of Cincin-
nati has adopted a resolu-
tion calling for establishment
of an overall community co-
ordinating organization in
this city which would include
the council, the United Jew-
ish Social Agencies Federa-
tion, the Jewish Welfare Fund
and the prospective Associa
tion of Jewish Educational In-
stitutions.
This overall body would
function mainly as a coordi-
nating committee and would
set up allocations for the
campaigns of the Jewish Wel-
fare Fund and cooperate with
the Fund in selecting the an-
nual chairman for the fund's
campaign.
Establishment of this co-
ordinating body is subject to
acceptance of the plan by the
other organizations involved.

Title-Maker Disraeli

R

BEN IFEINGOLD

An American Jewish Press Feature

Benjamin Dis6.eli, the famous
Jewish Prime Minister of Eng-
land, during the reign of Queen
Victoria. was a man with the
wisdom of a Solomon.
One night, as he sat in his
study, a terrific pounding at the
door shattered the silence. Dis-
raeli leaped to his feet and
opened the door, to be con-
fronted by a court hanger-on
who had an enormous amount•
of drag.
"What is it.. my good man?"
Disraeli asked.
It is urgent. Your Excel-
lency," replied the highly ex-
Cited man, "that I be made a
Lord at once."
"My dear chap," purred Dis-
l-aeli, 'you know I haven't the
power to make you a Lord, but
to soothe your disappointment,
you can inform your friends I
offered you the title—and you
turned it down! That will make
you even a bigger man in their
eyes!"
