desperate that we of Bnai Brith are
proud to sponsor an event that will un-
doubtedly save the lives of so many
wounded soldiers now fighting a war
for us.

The many thousands Of pints of blood
needed by our armed forces can only
be gotten through your answer to an-
other call of -duty—that of giving your
blood! This mission is- entirely depend-
ent on your support. We all have 'a
stake in this vital struggle 'today- for
peace and the fellows now fighting need

The need of whole blood and its de-

stockpile 'has been depleted by the
Korean: conflict -and must be rebuilt
without delay.

Bnai Brith Blood

Bank Chairman .

People ask me
why I have given
so much blood,
75 pints since
Pearl Harbor. I
tell them that so
long as I am
able, I'll always
want to do my
share whenever
it is needed be-
cause it makes
me feel wonder-
ful to know that
I am saving
somebody's life,
no matter his
race, color or
creed.
The need for
blood today is greater than ever, be-
cause people don't realize that a war
is going on and so are hesitant in their
support. Believe me when I say that
your blood is being used now in time
of war!

It is your duty as an American to
give—AND GIVE NOW! The surprise
with which the Korean war broke upon
us has been no more seriously felt than
in the matter of vital blood supplies for
the Armed Forces. With no time to
call upon the American public for imme-
diate blood donations( it was necessary
to dig into reserves - built up since World
War II in order to meet needs at the
-front. That reserve is slowly dwindling
away!

Current Armed Forces needs call for
200,000 pints of whole blood a month.
To this date, science , has discovered no
known substitute, chemical or otherwise,
to take the place of human blood. We
can make the bombers and the bullets
In endless quantities, but, as Chairman
of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General
Omar N. Bradley has declared, "Among
all the needs of the Armed Forces, blood
is the one item which cannot be manu-
factured. Blood and its giving must
come from the American heart."
