Woodward Center. Stephen
Sarasohn, instructor in govern-
ment at Wayne University will
speak, and a discussion will fol-
low led by Harry H. Anbender.

in Jewish Music." The event will
take place at 8:15 p.m., March
5, in the Rose Sittig Cohen

Participating in the program
will be Shirley Zaft, soprano;
Lama Shetzer, alto; Joseph Fin-
kelstein, tenor; Max Somberg,
baritone; Dan Braude, violinist;
and Mrs. Harry Oberstein, ac-
companist. Mrs. Louis Tobin will
narrate the performance.

HIC, High School Internation-
al Club, composed of Detroit
High School students, announces
a panel liscussion on the politic-
al aspects of post-war Japan at
its next meeting, Feb. 26, at
Duffield Branch Library. Three-
Centralites, Bob Berg, Elsie Kuf-
fler and Stan Brown, will be
among the discussion leaders.
The Civics Club, whose officers
are Helene Viedrah, president;
Ruth Rosender, vice-president;
Bune Rothbart, secretary; and
Gloria Lightstone, treasurer,
presented its second speaker, a
member of the Narcotics Bureau,
who discussed the relation of
narcotics to the High School
student, Feb. 21. The club's first
speaker was Centralite Max
Brenner who talked about his ex-
periences in Italy where he lived
for two years. More speakers
and a number of field trips are
on the agenda for the future.
Members of the Science Club
toured through the plant of the
Berry Bros. Paint Co. last Mon-
day. President Jean Fox said
that this was the first of a series
of monthly trips to learn how
science is applied to industry.
Wedding bells will soon be
ringing for at least two Central
girls; Marilyn Grossberg and
Mitzie Lelchook. Marilyn is en-
gaged to Jack Feder and will be
married after her graduation in
June. Mitzie and her fiance,
Morrie Zucker, have set the date
for February, 1953.
A Sweet-Sixteen party was
given for Faye Kaplan at her
home, Feb. 9. Her host was Gor-
don Kane. Among those present
were Centralites Estelle David-
son and Norm Brodsky, Shirley
Kesner and Jerry Gonek, Iris
Koratzky and Iry Miller, Nina
Katz and Larry Sklar, Libby

Mr. and Mrs. David S. Levy, of Santa Barbara Drive, have 're-
turned from an extensive vacation in Mexico. En route, they flew
to Vallejo, Calif., where they visited their children, Dr. and Mrs.
Allan Levy.
The Jack Myers, of Monterey Ave., are vacationing at Holly-
wood, Fla.,_whe•e they will remain until April 1.
Dr. and Mrs. Nathan H. Moss have returned to their home on
Stratford Rd., from a weekend stay in New York.
Mrs. Charles Curtis, who left for a two-month stay in Miami
Beach, Fla., was honored prior to her departure at a dinner given
by-her daughter, Mrs. Harriet Malter.
. Miss Elaine Feldman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Feld-
man, of 'Buena Vista Ave., has returned from a two-month vaca-
tion in Miami Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cogen and son, Alan, of Steel Ave., are
spending a two-week vacation in Miami Beach, Fla.
- Saul Karpf, of Woodingham Dr., recently left for a stay in
Hot Springs, Ark >, and will return early in March.
Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Zieve, formerly of Longfellow Ave.,
are now residing at 18017 Pinehurst. The Zieves are not leaving
for Florida as was erroneously reported in last week's columns.
Mrs. Henry Abrahams is flying to London and Rome, and will
then join her husband at Nairobi for an extended visit of eastern
Africa.
Mr. and Mrs. Sy Greenbaum and son, Steven, formerly of
EWald Circle, are now residing in their new home at 14016 Pem-
broke.
Mrs. Oscar D. Schwartz, of 20417 Sheffield, will represent the
Detroit Section, National Council of Jewish Women, at the organ-
ization's democracy in action conference in Washington this
weekend.
Registered as guests at the Shore Palace Apartments in Miami
Beach, Fla., are Mr, and Mrs. Jules R. Schubot, Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence Levy, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bernstein and son, Milton,
and Leon and Charles Friedman.
-Mr. and Mrs. Joe Horwitz, of Warrington Dr., have returned
from a three-week stay in Miami Beach, Fla.
Miss Sally Lou Ettinger will leave Wednesday. for Miami Beach,
Fla., where she will be the guest at the Casablanca Hotel through
March.
Among those who entertained for the former Bette Shanbrom,
who on Jan. 26, was wed to Kurt A. Traub, were Jean Jaslove and
Mrs. Milton Atlas, at miscellaneous showers; Mrs. Paul Barak, at
a luncheon in the Statler Hotel; and Mesdames William Green-
berg and Eli Gross, at a luncheon at Beauchamp's.
Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Deutsch of San Juan Drive are in Miami
Beach.

Miawer Ladies to Hold Annual Donor Affair

The Mumford Chapter of the
Future Nurses Club became an
active part of the national or-
ganization after a term as a
non-affiliate. Ginny Kuttnauer
was elected president; Peggy
Blau, veep; Shirley Ann Deutch,
secretary. As its first activity,
club niembers toured the wards
of Harper Hospital and learned
ways in which, they could assist
at the hospital.
Another group being formed
is the Service Club. Members
will act as guard's, luncheon
aides and general assistants to
the school. Only requirement
for membership is a C average
and good citizenship grades.
During the last meeting of the
Science Club, the lab was packed
to capacity: as eager scientists
experiments with liquid air. A
goldfish which was frozen by
blasts of the air, was the only
victim of the experiments.
The annual declamation con-
test is well underway. English
classes are buzzing with activity
as every student is learning a
selection for the event.
Students can present straight
declamation; interpretive read-
ing, humorous reading, original
oration or extemporaneous
speeches. Today will decide the
winners from each English class,
who will meet to discuss plans
for the final contest.

vey Seigel, violinist of the De-
troit Symphony Orchestra, at its
