ence announced allocation. of
2,000 long tons of crude sulphur
to Israel for the first six months
of 1952. This amount met Is-
rael's import quota tn full.
Suicide Ends Life,
Of Biased Hotelman
MONTREAL, (JTA)-The sui-
cide of a hotel owner and the
apology of his widow brought
an end to a court action against
the Mont Tremblant . Lodge in
the Laurentian Mountain*
which was accused of anti-
Semitic practices. Both parties
agreed to an out of court settle-
ment.
The court proceedings began
in 1948 when two Jewish guests
at the hotel-both residents of
New York-were ordered by the
proprietor to leave. He asserted
that he would not cater to Jew-
ish guests. The owner, J. Ryan,
was a known anti-Semite and
the Canadian Jewish Congress
undertook to support the case
against the wealthy hotel pro-
prietor.
In the interim Ryan commit-
ted suicide and his widow, who
is now in charge of the hotel,
issued a statement that she has
never practiced anti-Jewish dis-
crimination and the hotel will
accept all guests. The charges
were, therefore, dropped.

Nicaragua Signs Genocide Pact •
UNITED NATIONS, N. Y, -
(JTA)-Nicaragua acceded to the
convention on the prevention
and punishment of the crime of
genocide. In a ceremony at the
United Nations legal department,
Rene Schick, Charge d'Affaires
of the Nicaraguan Embassy at
Washington, deposited his gov-
ernment's instrument of acces-
sion. Nicaragua is the 33rd state
to ratify, accede or accept the
convention on genocide, which
came into force on San. 12, .1951a
