Philip Shulman to Speak
To Kvutzah on 'Maimonides'

Kvutzah Ivrith, will have as
its next speaker, Philip Shul-
man, who will talk on "Moses
Maimonides," at the Rose Sittig
Cohen Bldg. The chairman will
be S, Kasdan.
Feb. 23 has been set for the
observance of Jacob Fichman's
70th anniversary and Dr. Moses
Zalesky, director of the Bureau
of Jewish Education in Cincin-
nati, will be the speaker. -

Arrangements are being com-
pleted for the celebration of
Hamisha Asar b'Shvat at 8 p.m.,
Monday, at Cong. Mishkan Is-
rael, Blaine and Linwood. The
program, arranged as a .cultUral
event for newly-arrived resi-
dents in the area, will be high-
lighted by an address by Rabbi
Isaac Stollman, who will speak
on the beauty of Israel as he
witnessed it on a recent visit.
Young Israel youth groups
will provide a musical interlude,
featuring band music, piano re-
citals, songs, monologues, panto-
mimes and synagogue music.
Participants will be Rochele
Sandweiss, Sylvia Greenfield,
Fayge Berris, Lois Zumberg, Fae
Kiapper, Phyllis Gellman, Mari-
lyn. Mutchnick, Beverly Green-
field, Dorothy Gordon, Frances
Novetsky, Ursula Sitzman, Yehu-
da Gellman, Yetta Rubin and
Judy Schwartz. The young Is-
rael band will be directed by
Frank Leiderman.

Beth Aaron Juniors, youth af-
filiate of Beth Aaron Synagogue,
will sponsor and conduct late
Friday services, at 8:30 p. m.,
today, at the synagogue. The
service will be the first in which
the youths will officiate. Mem-
bers will act as cantors, and will
participate in a discussion of
problems facing Jewish youth in
America.

Cecil Roth, author, historian
and lecturer, will be the feature
attraction at the Men's Club in-
ter-congregational dinner to be
held at Cong. Shaarey Zedek on
Feb. 28, at 6:30 p.m.
Participating in this affair are
the Men's Clubs of the following
congregations and temples : Aha-
vas Achim, Beth Aaron, Beth
Abraham, Beth El, Beth Tikvat,
Bnai David, Bnai Moshe, Down-
town Synagogue, Israel, Adas
Shalom, Shaar Hashomayim and
Shaarey Zedek.
Shaarey Zedek's choir, under
the direction of Dan Frohman,
will render several selections to
entertain the guests. All men in
the community are invited to
attend. Abe Satovsky and .Abe
Sandelman are co-chairmen of
the event.

Cong. Bnai David will dedicate
its program at the Friday night
gathering today to Scout Troop
135 of the synagogue. Each year
during Scout Week, the Bnai
David Scout Troop conducts the
program and its members par-
ticipate in the Service.
Judge George Edwards will be
the guest speaker. Judge Ed-
wards was recently appointed
Probate Judge by Governor Wil-
liams and assigned to the. Juve-
nile -Division, has devoted much
time to youth activities. Rabbi
Joshua S. Sperka will introduce
the speaker.
Among members of the Scout
Troop who will participate in
the program will be Danny
Docks, Haskell Adler, Marshall
Feuer, Paul Ruby and Jerry
Beigler. Morton Plotnick will
receive the Ner Tamid award.
