Dr. Burstein to Address Histadrut
Campaign Rally Sunday Afternoon
Dr. Joseph Burstein, director
of the culture and education
department of Histadrut in Is-
rael, will be the guest. speaker
at the Histadrut campaign rally
Sunday, 1 p.m., at the Labor
Zicinist Institute.

under the very
noses of the

detection while

power was still in Palestine and
on the day the state of Israel
was proclaimed, he broadcast'

through the Haganah radio.
Dr. Burstein arrived recently
as a member of a special Hista-
drut delegation to aid the $10,-
000.000 Israel Histadrut Cam-
paing.

tempo of the campaign is en-
couraging and the response of
landsmanschaften and affilia-
ted. organizations is to be corn-
mended. He singled out the fol-
lowing groups which todate have

Histadrut affairs scheduled

ish Women's Organizations, at
its meeting Feb. 11, at Temple
Israel. Much interest in the
program has been expressed be-

on Middle East Affairs.

Bartley Crum, an author, pub-
lisher and lawyer who has oc-
cupied several key posts in na-
tional affairs, hai been a cham-
pion of civil rights legislation
at home and of international
justice throughout the world.
He maintains a law office in
Tel Aviv, and has made many
trips to Israel.
At the recent convention of
the Federation of Jewish Worn-
en's Welfare Organizations in
New York, Mrs. Samuel B.
Danto, Detroit delegate w a s
complimented on the League's
activity in Detroit.
Mrs. Darito was one of the
2,000 women who paid tribute to
Marion Anderson, Dorothy Gor-
don and Golda Myerson, who
were cited by FJWWO as the
year's "women of achievement."
At a regular meeting of the
Women's League of Young Is-
rael scheduled for Tuesday, 8:30
p.m., at the home of Mrs. Emil
Spilman, 4341 Fullerton, final
plans will be made for celebrat r.
ing the 18th anniversary of the
group.
The celebtation will be held
on Feb. 24, in the social hall of
the Young Israel Center, and
will begin with dinner, followed
by elaborate entertainment, in-
cluding the presentation of "The
Chassidic T al e" enacted by
members.
Chairman of the "Chai" cele-
bration is Mrs. Emil Spilman,
assisted by Mrs. David Novetsky
as co-chairman. In addition,
the committee includes : Mes-
dames David J. Cohen, Charles
T. Gellman, Herman K. Cohen,
Joseph Grossman, Bertha Tor-

the Board of Governors of the
Jewish Welfare Federation. The
election will take place at Fed-
eration's annual meeting, ten-
tatively scheduled for 8 p.m.,
Tuesday, March 4, at the Jewish

ward.
