CommunitySchools Begin. Registration
For Forthcoming Spring Semesters

Registration for • the new
spring semesters have been
announced by the Detroit Jew-
ish community's sahools. The
Midrasha, college • of Jewish
Studies, has already begun reg-
istration, while enrollment at
•other schools begins this -week
for new semesters in February.
Midrasha Courses
Midrasha opened classes on
Ian. 21, but registration is still
open. Maintained by the United
Hebrew Schools, the Midrasha
offers the f allowing in the
teachers' t r a i n i n g and ad-
vanced department: Isaia h,
Rabbinics, Liturgy, Education,
Hebrew Language and • Gram-
mar, Modern Hebrew Literature,
Contemporary Jewish Life in
America. Instructors are M.
Gordon, S. Kagda.n, A. Elazar, J.
Haggai, M. Nobel and R. Bar-
Levay.
General Jewish Studies De-
partment courses 'include He-
brew, Contemporary Jewish Life
and Music. Teachers are M.
Mathis, N. Ruttenberg, A. Lach-
over, R. Bar-Levav, J. Haggai,
Miss Iola Schipler.
The second semester of • the
Woman's Institute of Midrasha,
organized in response to a re-
quest from the women in the
community, commenced on Jan.
21. Classes are given Wednes-
days, 10:15 to 11:15 a.m., in He-
brew, Bible, Customs and Cere-
monies, by M. Michlin , A. Lach-
over, R. Bar-Levav and A. Elazar.
Cong. Shaarey Zedek
The kindergarten and nursery,
or Beth Hayeled, of Cong.
Shaarey Zedek is now register-
ing youngsters for the - Spring
semester. A fully accredited
school according to the Detroit
Board of Education, children are
taught at both morning and
afternoon sessions.

Morning sessions are from 9
a.m. to 12 noon, while afternoon
classes =begin at 1:30 and last
to 4:30 p.m. Bus transportation

United Hebrew Schools
United Hebrew School branch-
es will start the new term on
Feb. 4. Registration is now tak-
ing place. Courses are offered
in Hebrew language, prayers,
customs and ceremonies, Bible
and history and current events.
The schools prepare youths for
Bar Mitzvah by teaching the
Haftorah and ceremonies and
customs which are part of the
Bar Mitzvah background. Bus
transportation is offered on re-

United Jewish-Folk Schools
Youngsters, 3. to 5, and chil-
dren, 6 to 14, are now being ac-
cepted for e n r allment in
branches of the United Jewish
Folk School s. Kindergarten
classes are held from 9 a.m, to 12
noon and from 1 to 4 p.m., daily.
Elementary grades are taught
from 3:30 to 8 p.m. daily.
The new Northwest branch will
open at the Sholem Aleichern
Building, Wyoming and Marga-
reta for the new term in Febru-
ary.. A new kindergarten and
grade school is being organized.

Cong. Beth Aaron
The new term at Cong. Beth
Aaron will start Feb. 6 an-
nounced Bernard Panush, direc-
tor of the religious school. Ap-
plications for kindergarten and
regular classes are being taken

am. to 12 noon. Facilities now
extend through to the seventh
grade.

Registration for the new term
which begins Monday has start-
ed, and appears to be headed
for a peak enrollment of 550
children. In addition to a new
beginners' class for boys and
girls, an advanced girls' class will
be started.
The Yeshivah will expand its
transportation system to the
Northwest area with the addi-
tion of an anonymous donation
of a station wagon. Information
