ISRAEL RITOV, speaking at
the Histadrut Rally, drew an
unexpected analogy between
himself and Great Britain's
Prime Minister, Winston
Churchill . . . The question had
come up, he related, as to why
he should journey t this
country to present an appeal
for Histadrut . . . Ritov there-
fore noted that a "distinguish-
ed colleague" of his had ar-
rived in the U. S. simultane-
ously . . on a similar mis-
sion . . and drew a roar of
laughter when he said that
Churchill had come to this
country on-behalf of the UBA
. . the "U.nited British Ap-
peal."

both have been wowing audi-
ences throughout the country.

AFTER CONSIDERABLE
trouble obtaining tickets to
"Guys and Dolls" at the Shu-
bert . . . and then finally hav-
ing to pay well over the stand-
ard price. Marilyn . Brown and
friends had to be content with
sitting on an aisle-way stair .. .
even though she had bought re-
served seats for the popular mu-
sical . . Whole trouble was,
Marilyn and guests had tickets
for the right night .. . but the
wrong week!

guerite Kozenn, have received
an invitation from the He-

to give summer music courses
there . . • and are delighted
to help in the educational and
cultural program of the state
of Israel . Julius and Mar-
guerite are giving their only
Detroit concert this season at
the Detroit Institute of Arts,
Jan. 28 ... And have chosen a.
program consisting of music
with which they hav2 had
great success during their six
consecutive European concert
tours.

DURING ITS TRADITIONAL
New Year's Eve gathering,
Branch 4, LZOA was responsible
for the discovery of new and
sensational talent . . . Shula-
rnith Goldoftas delighted t h e
other guests with a full reper-
toire of operatic arias and folk
songs in Yiddish, Hebrew, Eng-
lish and Russian . . . The mu-
sical high spot of the evening
was her rendition of "Habanera"
from "Carmen." . . . with a chor-
us of toreadores and cigarette
xnakers composed of the chav-
erim.

TWENTY-TWO MEMBERS, led
by chairman Gerrie Busch, make
up the successfUl Holiday Hop

Committee . . . which holds its

A CREW OF PAINTERS who
met a deadline helped make a
success of the Israel bond lunch-
eon and fashion show of Ameri-
can Jewish Congress Women .. .
held in the new Parkside Road
home of the Samuel Hambur-
gers . . . When Mrs. Hamburger
agreed to throw open her huge
home for the admission-by-bond
affair, the painters were swarm-
ing all over the walls . . . She
set them a deadline a day before
the luncheon . . . and by dint
of overtime, they just made it
... An additional just-right note
commented on by the more than
100 guests were the candied al-
monds died coral to match Mrs.
Hamburger's decoration scheme
. . Hillard Hamburger, home
from college on vacation the day
of the luncheon, tried to stalk
through the throng of women
on his way to a date . . . He
was riveted by Mrs. Theodore
Bargman's Israel bond speech
. . and became so enthusiastic
he bought a $500 bond on the
spot.

the boys ever so grateful for the
wonderful performance put on
. . . The Army lent the troupe
of entertainers two buses and
Greyhound provided them with
another . . . Requests for the
show from veterans hospitals are
coming in from everywhere . . .
