AFTER THE recent concert by
Seymour Lipkin and his sister,
Eleanor, for 200 residents of the
Home for the Aged, one of the
listeners continued to applaud
with a new zestful sparkle in
her eyes . . . She then leaped
up and gave them each a re-
sounding kiss . . exclaiming,
"I'm so proud of you, my chil-
dren" . .. The woman was Liza
Lipkin, 87, a resident at .the
home and grandmother of Sey-
mour and Eleanor.

LIL AARON TOLD the story
about and experience she had
with the Jewish Community
Council Hanukah TV program
• • • Lil had some non-Jewish
friends at her home and when
she told them of the Hanukah
program they suggested that
she call three other non-Jewish
families who live in Pleasant
Ridge and tell them about it .. .
Lii's friends told her these peo-
ple had been very interested in
the celebration of Hanukah but
neither they nor their pastor
were able to figure out the
meaning of this holiday . . .
Following the program, the
three families called LH back
and told her they were grateful
for having received advance
notice ... since they now under-.
stood the holiday and its cere-
monies.

SIGN ON WOODWARD Ave.
nut store near the river . .. "If
Our Peanuts Were Any Fresher
—They'd Be Insulting."
* * *
IRWIN MILLER tells of the
GI who wandered innocently
backstage between the acts of
"Guys and Dolls" at the Shubert
. .. and started to enter a room
clearly marked, CHORUS GIRLS
DRESSING ROOM—POSITIVE-
LY NO ADMITTANCE . . . A
watchman hailed him. "Hey,
can't you read?" he pointed to
the sign • . . "Who's smokin'?"
asked the soldier.

BEN BERKE, shoe store man-
ager, relates an incident when
two men came in and asked to
buy one pair of shoes for both of
them . . . They were World War
I veterans and each used a
crutch to support a letoff at the
hip where a leg had been lost
. . . Since both wore size 10-D,
the fellows explained, they al-
ways shop together for shoes .. .
One man was without a left leg
and the other without a right
. . . After they picked out the
pair they wanted, Ben wrapped
the shoes separately, and mark-
ed the packages so each man
would have the correct shoe .. .
Their cheerfulness in spite of
such handicaps imbedded itself
into Ben's heart . . . and store
employees never before saw him
in such good humor as after the
incident.

CONTRARY TO RUMOR, Bel-
Aire Kosher Catering has not
been sold . .. In fact, complete
redecoration of the place is be-
ing planned by its owners, Sally
and Sam Klein.

BNAI BRITH'S Blood Bank
Rally, March 4. at Cong. Adas
Shalom, will be the largest ever
attempted by that group . . .

Chairman Leo Polk, himself one

of the leading blood donors in
the country, will attempt to set
up a six-hour live show to en-
tertain people waiting to give
blood ... Leo also expects to get
full radio and television cover-
age for an hour.

SCENE IN A DOWNTOWN de-
partment store . . . After the
salesgirl had patiently assembled
a collection of sweaters for the
cute teen-ager, the young girl
finally tried one on and said,
"This sweater fits perfectly. I'll
take the next size smaller."
