Half of Czech Jews
Seek to Emigrate

TEL AVIV, (JTA) —A half of
the 14,000 Jews still living in
Czechoslovakia have applied for
permission to• leave the country,
according to a report reaching
here froth Prague. ,
The report said that no cul-
tural Jewish activity exists in
Czechoslovakia and that the sy-
nagogues there are empty be-
cause the Jews are afraid to en-
ter them. Orthodox Jews are re-
quired to work on the Sabbath
under the existing laws.

eral hundred Jews were among
the people recently deported
from their homes in Hungary to
