Israel Sides with Soviet
On German Investigation

PARIS, (JTA)
Israel voted
with the Soviet Bloc in the
United Nations against a UN
investigation of election condi-
tions in Germany. The proposal
was adopted in the General As-
sembly's special political com-
mittee, * 45-6 with eight ab-
stentions.
Israeli delegate Maurice Fisch-
er, explaining. his stand, said
his government would not vote
for a resolution on Germany
which does not explicitly in-.
struct the investigating commis-
sion to take into consideration
factors relating to the resur-
gence of _Nazism and does not
warn it of the dangers of neo-
Nazism. Fischer said he appre-
- dated the statement of t h e
American delegate that it was
understood that the terms of
reference of t h e commission
would inchide investigation of
indications of Nazism.
Earlier in the proceedings, Mr.
Fischer told the United Nations
General Assembly's political
committee that the primary
conditions of any world German
settlement must be "effective
guarantees against a resurgence
of Nazism."

Woman's Psychoanalysis
Of 'Fight Against Fears'

"I could write this book only
because of my defenses—an in-
satiable curiosity to know the
reason for everything to lessen
its threat No one man should
play God to another, whether he
be parent, analyst, friend or.em-
ployer. A man may guide and
counsel but he should not order
or compel beyond a reasonable
human relationship . . Real
happiness stems from a facing
of self that allows you to give
love."
These are just a few of the
conclusions. reached by Lucy
Freeman in her book "Fight
Against Fears: The Very Per-
sonal Account of a Woman's
Psychoanalysis" (Century Pub-
lishers. 419 4th, NY16). It is an
interesting volume that will
bring enlightenment and guid-
ance to lay as well as profes-
sional people interested in the
subject.

Zionist House Seeks
Additional Finances
To Build Activities

Acclaiming the services that
have been projected to func-
tion from the Zionist House,
dedicated this week-end at
Linwood and Lawrence, a
group of leaders have issued
an appeal for funds to com-
plete financing the new struc-
ture.
The appeal, signed by Walt-

Zionist House, Harry Cohen,
treasurer, Dr. A. M. Hersh-

satisfaction over the reception
that has been given the Zion-
ist House by the youth and
urges immediate wiping out
of the mortgage so that the

Organization may not be im-

lems.

NEW YORK, (AJP) — An Or-
thodox Jew yearning for tradi-
tional Judaism in a suburban
community took to the classified
pages of a daily newspaper here
to gather a minyan.
Mr. Rappaport got more than
he bargained for: at last reports
a new Orthodox synagogue was
being organized via a full-scale
campaign.
The story began three weeks
ago when Rappaport moved into
the small Long Island com-
munity of Hempstead. No Or-
thodox shul was within miles.
Anxious to continue organ-
ized religious life, but somewhat
of a stranger in the neighbor-
hood, Rappaport decided upon
placing this somewhat unique
classified ad in Newsday, a lead-
ing daily on Long Island.
"Nine Orthodox Jews Wanted
for Minyan. Call Hempstead
2-239W."
Apparently Rappaport wasn't
alone in his desire for organized
Orthodox Jewish life in the area.
He was swamped with replies.
Now, with a helping hand
from the Union of Orthodox
Jewish Congregations of Ameri-
ca, Rappaport and his fellow
minyanites are knee-high in a
drive to raise funds to build an
Orthodox synagogue f o r the
growing suburb.
