• Community Groups Plan Hanukah Activities Feast of Lights Celebrated with Religious, Educational Social Events Hanukah, the festival of lights, will be observed this coming week from Sunday, Dec. 23 to Sunday, Dec. 30, The community is busy planning suitable cele- brations for this holiday, which is traditionally observed relig- iously, educationally and Social- ly. Following is a list of activities scheduled: Religious Observances At Cong. Ahavas Achim, at late Friday services, Rabbi Eph- raim F. Einhorn will preach on "What Does Christmas Mean to Us?" Mrs. Alex Kraft will recite the invocation, and the choir will sing Hebrew songs. An oneg shabbat follows services. At 9 a.m., Saturday, Rabbi Einhorn. will speak on "Jealousy — t h e Curse of Mankind." Adas Shalom Synagogue At. Saturday morning services, Rabbi Jacob E. Segal will preach on "History Opens a Door," and Cantor • Nicholas Fenakel will chant the service. Cong. Beth Aaron At late Friday services, Rabbi Benjamin H. Gorrelick will speak on "The Why and How of Mod- ern Hanukah Celebration." Max Kaminsky will act as Cantor, and Sheldon Seltzer will chant the kiddush. Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Panush will host a soc- ial hour following services, at which Mrs. Gorrelick will lead community singing. A Hanukah celebration will be held at 8:15 p.m., Wednesday, in the synagogue. Cantor Hyman Schulsinger will be guest artist, and Rabbi Gorrelick will deliver a Hanukah address. Mrs. Irwin Levine, of the Sisterhood, will present a $5,000 check at this time toward the building fund. Temple Israel "Rededication" is the subject of Rabbi Leon Fram at services at 8:30 p.m., today. This Han- ukah sermon will salute the state of Israel and the dedication of the new Zionist House. Lawrence Snider will observe his Bar Mitz- vah. Temple Beth El A Pre-Hanukah family service will be -held at 8 p.m., today, at which Dr. B. Benedict Glazer and Rabbi Sidney Akselrad will preach. In honor of Rabbi Aksel- rad, who leaves to assume rab- binical duties in Berkeley, Calif. on Jan. 1, a reception will be tendered following services.
