DURING THE BAD snow
storm, this week, when transpor-
tation again became a problem
as the day approached evening,
Meyer Segal shared a cab with
a litttle lady who admitted to
83 years old . . . When they
reached her address, Meyer said,
"I'M going to see you safely to
your door" . . . and the woman
forcefully replied, "You positive-
ly are not. My husband might be
looking."

ONE OF THE LOCAL dailies
received a news release from a
group announcing its Hanukah
party . . . The reporter handling
the story obviously wasn't too
familiar with the holiday . . . as
he revealed when he called the
office of the Jewish Community
Council and asked, "What kind
of an organization is Hanukah
• . they've sent us a story about
an affair they're plannir g."

IF THE DRUGGISTS in the
northwest area are wondering
Why there has been such a run
on rubbing alcohol and liniment
during the past week . .. here's
the answer . . . The women of
Infants Service Group's annual
song and dance revue have been
rehearsing a new routine which
is more strenuous than usual
.. . The aals had better get rid
of those Charley-horses and lim-
ber up to the task . .. because
Jan. 20 is the not-too-far-away
date for the big show at Masonic
Temple.

AT LAST WEEK'S dedication
of the new JWV Memorial Build-
ing, Boris Joffe's children were
being introduced to Governor
Williams by Arlene Rhodes . . .
Boris asked his daughters, six
and five respectively, whom they
were going to vote for . . . They
promptly responded, "For Gov-
ernor Williams." . . . He then
turned to his nine-month-old
son, Victor, whom he was carry-
ing, and said, "Victor, whom are
you going to vote for?" ... Little
Victor's embarrassing response
was a loud. "Brrrak" . . . com-
monly known as a Bronx cheer.

THE COMMUNIST PARTY re-
cently sent a questionnaire to
its --members asking whether
they or any member of their
family had ever been. mentally
ill . . . The purpose of this was
obviously dictated by a plan to
weed out those eractionally un-
stable comrades iNho might
break down in the hard times
ahead . . . In commenting on
this, the Jewish, Daily Forward
wrote . . "If the Communist
Party expels all those members
frcim its ranks who are mentally
unbalanced, the only ones left
will be the FBI agents . . ."

HARRY LIPSON, newly-ap-
pointed sales manager at WJBK,
reveals the recent instance when
a demon radio ad man was
almost tossed out of the station
after proposing a new program
for midgets to be called "WEE,
The People."

JUNIOR HADASSAH intro-
duced. a new and constructive
twist into the practice of Ha-

nukah gift giving . . . The group
supports a children's village in
Israel . . . which is suffering
seriously from that country's
shortage of medical supplies .. .
At their affair, the gals of Jr.
Hadassah decided that instead
of the conventional Hanukah
party grab bags of gifts . . all
the guests were to bring gift
bags containing various medical
supplies, • like bandages, etc. . . .
Each was gaily wrapped and will
be opened as. a. gift by the kids
in Israel. -

STORY IS TOLD by Walter

hearing a knock on the door.
"Who's there?"

FUNNY THING, for over five
years we'd .never worn a hat
. . . through the coldest days
and snow storms galore .. . and
always stayed in the pink of
condition . . Recently, we
bought a hat to sort of enhance
our appearance and protect a
somewhat balding pate ... What
happened? Last week we suf-
fered a severe cold that had us
in bed for a couple of days . . .
