Isaac Franck Plays Prominent Role
in Panel's Work to Fight Propaganda

Not long ago the U.S. State
Department w a s considerably
worried over the success of
Soviet psychological warfare in
this country. An advisory com-
mittee, established by Congress
and appointed by President
Truman, submitted a report to
the Secretary of State.
The report according to our
JTA Washington correspondent,
Milton Friedman, called for a
"counter-offensive" to defeat
Soviet efforts to depict America
as an immoral nation of luxury-

munity Council of Greater
Washington and former director
of the Community Council in
Detroit. Dr. Albert Joseph Mc-
Cartney was named liaison of-
ficer for religious advice be-
tween the committee and the
State Department.
Franck's insight into • com-
munity relations problems and
his particular familiarity with
the European situation made his
work of great value to the com-
mittee. The panel meets per-

Hungarian Resigns Post,
Asks Asylum in Israel

Hanukah Good Wishes

McGraw at Addison

TEL AVIV, (JTA) — Albert
Liebermann, a Hungarian Lega-
tion official here, has resigned
his post and appealed to the
Israel government for asylum,
it was reported.
According to the newspapers
Liebermann, son of a Jewish
author; and first Hungarian rep-
resentative sent to Tel Aviv after
the establishment of diplomatic
relations between Hungary and
the Jewish State, resigned as
commercial attache but refused
to return to Budapest when
ordered to do so. He has moved
from his official residence to a
hotel at Ramat Gan. The press,
Which reports this as the first
case of a foreign diplomat as-
signed to Israel refusing to re-
turn to his home, says that
Liebermann spent years in Rus-
sian labor camps and that he
has helped Jews in Hungary.
