'On Purim we were saved from the attempt to destroy
the body of the Jew; but on Hanukah we were rescued
frojn the decree that would have destroyed our soul.'
Hanukah, the festival that marks attainment of religious
freedom by the valorous Maccabaean heroes, is occasion for
re-dedication to the high ideals of Jewish learning and of the
spiritual values which we have inherited from our ancestors, frorn
our Teachers and Prophets: The Jewish News therefore dedicates
this edition as its annual Education Issue, in support of the
programs that are being pursued by our community's schools.
