Hershman to Address Zionist
House Dedication on Dec. 26

Walter L. Field, president of
Zionist House, Inc., and A. C.
Lappin, president, Zionist Or-
ganization of Detroit, have lined
up a series of programs for. Han-
ukah week in connection with
the dedication of • the Zionist
House, Linwood and Lawrence.
Albert Elazar, . ZOD program
chairman, has planned the pro-
gram which commences with
"Hanukat Ha'bayit" (dedication
Of the house) Dec. 26.
Dr. Abraham M. Hershman
will deliver the keynote address
at the opening ceremonies of the
house dedication. Cantor Fen-
akel of Adas Shalom will chant
the traditional prayers. Greet-
ings will be given by Detroit'S
leaders. Refreshments will be
served.
On, Dec. 27, the Zibnist Youth
Commission, under the joint
sponsorship of Mrs. Abe Katz-
man (Hadassah), and Milton
Marwil (ZOD), will present a
program which will feature
dramatic skits, Israeli songs and
dances, special ceremonies by
Young Ji?daea, Sr. Judaea, Jr.
Hadassah; and IZFA of Wayne

U.

Special sermons will be deliv-
ered in synagogues on Dec. 26,
dedicated to Israel and the Zion-
ist movement.

Church Group to Attend
Adas Shalom Services

Sunday school students of the
Hope Chapel Evangelical Church
of Livonia will be guests, and
girl scout - troops 768 and 783
will participate in the reading
at late Friday services at Adas
Shalom Synagogue, today.
Rabbi Jacog E. Segal will
speak on--"Prologue to a Miracle,
a Hanukah Message in Our Pre-
sent Times." The synagogue choir
will officiate. The Evangelical
Church group indicated a desire
to obSerVe Jewish services and
were invited by Rabbi Segal.

Adas Shalom Dinner-Dance
To Be Held Sunday Evening

The annual dinner-dance of
Adas Shalom Synagogue will be
held Dec. • 16, 7 p. m., in the
congregation's social hall. Co-
chairmen of the affair are
Charles Charlip, John Allen and
Mrs. John Bishop.
The program will include se-
lections by Cantor Nicholas
Fenakel, and music for dancing.
Reservations may be made at
the Synagogue office or through
the co-chairmen.

On Sunday, Dec. 30, from 11
a.m. - to 3 p.m. there will be open
house to the community-at-
large. At .6 p.m., the ZOD Exe-
cutive, ZOD Israel bond workers
and membership workers will be
hosts to the Israeli artists Sho-
shana Damari and Moshe Wilen-
sky, at a dinner at the Mayfair,
that evening in Adas Shalom
Congregation, ZOD will present
the program "Here's Israel"
starring Miss Damari and Mr.
Wilensky. Admission will be by
tickets which can be obtained
at the Zionist House.

Adas Shalom Institute
Adds 2 Hebrew Courses

Max Biber, adult study chair-
man of Adas Shalom Syna-
gogue, announces that because
of requests two new Hebrew
classes have been added to the
Institute curriculum.
The following five classes now
meet at 8 p.m., Tuesday: He-
brew I, Alex Roberg; Hebrew II,
Reuven Bar-levav; Hebrew III;
Mrs. Harold J. Goodman; He-
brew IV, Michael Michlin; "The
Land of Israel," Albert Elazar.
At 9 p.m., Rabbi Jacob Segal
conducts his demonstration
course, "Adventures in Jewish
Prayer," assisted by Cantor
Nicholas Fenakel and the youth
choir. A new course in Hebrew
is taught by Mrs. Goodman at
10 a.m., Wednesday.
Because .of Hanukah and New
Year's Eve, there will be no
adult study classes on Dec. 25
and Jan. 1.

Celebrating annual Men's
Club Sabbath, members of the
Beth Aaron Men's Club will con-
duct late Friday services at 8:30
p.m., today, at the synagogue.
Sidney Weinberg, president,
will lead the service, assisted by
Morris Litvin as cantor. Others
participating are Harold Mar-
shall, Irwin Levine, Morris Katz,
Sidney Levine, William Gross
and Dr. Albert Kaplan. •
A symposium on "The Future
of Judaism in America," with
Albert K. Lubin and William I.
Liberson as speakers, will take
the place of a sermon. Barry
Litvin will chant the kiddush,
and Max Teitel and Max Mind-
lin are soloists. A social will fol-
low.
At Saturday services, the Bar
Mitzvah of Marvin Gerald Broz-
gold will be observed.

CONG. AHAVAS ACHIM: At late Friday services, Rabbi Ephraim
F. Einhorn will speak on "What Is Happening to the Jews in
Soviet Russia." At Saturday services Rabbi Einhorn will speak
on "How to Strengthen Peace."
CONG. GEMILUTH CHASSODIM: At Saturday services, Rabbi
Leo Neuhaus will preach on "The Golden Anniversary of the

Max Roseno'ws."

CONG. BNAI DAVID: At Saturday services, Rabbi Joshua S. Sperka
will speak on "Two Brothers Meet."

CONG. BNAI MOSHE: At late Friday services, Rabbi Moses Lehr-
man will preach on "Truthful to Ourselves."
CONG. SHAAREY ZEDEK: At Saturday services, Rabbi Morris
Adler will speak on "The World of Books."
TEMPLE BETH EL: At services at 8:15 p.m., today, Dr. B. Bene-
dict Glazer will speak on "What Is Really Liberal Judaism?"

On Synagogue Art Dec. 19

Dr. Ernst Scheyer, associate
professor or art at Wayne Uni-
versity, will talk on "Early Syn-
agogue Art in Palestine and
