Plans for next Friday's gala
Variety Show, "Show Time," are
being made by a Student Coun-
cil committee headed by Sally
Kornwise, Gerry Primack, Bob
Littman and Marc Rubenstein.
Sponsored by the Parents As-
sociation, the show, featuring
Central talents will be followed
by a stag dance. Everyone is
invited.
"The Pot Boiler," a .one act
play, was recently presented to
a group of English students by
seven members of the dramatic
class -- Freida Pappus, Myrna
Schiff, Eugene Silverstein, Ber-
nard Rabinowitz, Paul Ham-
burger, Murray Janower, and
Shirley Phillips.
Paula Trivax, one of Central's
many music students, has al-
ready begun her career in show
business. Known to her audi-
ence as Paula Lane, she has ap-
peared in the Civic Light Opera
Chorus as well as on television
and radio programs, including
the Happy Hour Club and Bob
Murphy Show. She now sings in
the Don Large Chorus. Paula's
plans for the future inchz:le ex-
tending her musical training and
continuing in the field of en-
tertainment.
The Veterans' Hospital in
Dearborn soon will be receiv-
ing special holiday gift pack-
ages from Central students.
This project was originated by
the late Bernard Silverstein
and is being carried forward
by the Student Council under
the supervision of a commit-
tee headed by Helene Viedrah.
Central beat Southwestern in
the first basketball game of the
season-52-44. The highest in-
dividual score, 18 points, was
gained by- Ralph Goldstein who
made six baskets and six free
throws.

Psychiatrist Talks to Forum

The Center Open Forum will
meet at 9 p. m., Wednesday, at
the Woodward Jewish Center.
Dr. Benjamin Barenholtz, psy-
chiatrist, will speak on "Parent-
al Attitudes." Guests are wel-
come.

Mumford has added two new
counselors to its faculty, Charles
Brady and Naomi Rodeheffer.
The Student Council has re.-
vised its constitution to change
the method of electing assembly
delegates. Next year the council
will consist of four members
from each half grade.
Mumford's. chorus is planning
a varied program next week
When on Monday they will sing
at a meeting of the Parent's
Club. On Wednesday, they will
present a concert for the entire
school. The chorus will climax
its activities by participating in
a concert to be given at Grand
CirCus Park.

American Jewish Congrps, will
tender a paid-up membership
luncheon Dec. 19 at Temple Is-
rael, with Mrs. Morris Adler
(seated) as the speaker. Sterling
silver pins will be given those
women who have secured five
new members during the cam-
paign aimed at doubling the
present enrollment. A house to
house canvass is planned for the
