Detroit's Mizrachi Leaders Acclaimed Nationally for Outstanding Bond Work Detroit Mizrachi were honored as "leaders of the nation's out- standing I s r a el Bond-selling team" at the Mitrachi Organiza- tion of America national con- vention, which opened Wednes- day in New York. "You have achieved the finest Israel Bond record of any local Organization in America," Miz- rachi national president Pinkhos Churgin told Detroit delegates, "and have enhanced the prestige of the Mizrachi movement." Irving Schlusser, president; Phillip Stoliman, bond chair- man; Abe Nusbaum, bond co ,- Chairman, and Daniel Temchin, Congregations chairman, head the. Detroit delegation which will l introduced to Chief Rabbi Isar Yehuda Unterman of Tel - Aviv and James G. McDonald at a convention bond rally Satur- day night. Stollman was previ- ously honored for his work as bond chairman at the Mizrachi national dinner June 5, when he Was one of the three leaders who were awarded plaques by Henry Morgenthau. The others were Abraham Mazer and Morris Morganstern of New York. Detroit Mizrachi began organ- izing for the bond sale effort last April. They set an "impos- sible" three year goal of $1,000,- 000. To date they have sold $700,000 worth of bonds.- They hope to hit the million mark by Dec. 31 of this year. Yaakov Reines, a founder of the Miz- rachi movement, Mr. Tomkevich was a leading businessman and member of Mizrachi in pre-Hit- ler Poland. He is a survivor of the Warsaw Ghetto massacre. Sen.
