Mrs. Jack Dunn and Mrs. Benjamin Shaw have returned from
a six week stay in Los Angeles, Calif., during which they attended
the wedding of their niece, Zadette Maxine Guttman, to Jerome
G. Moss.
Corp. Abraham Jacobson, son of Rev. and Mrs. Harry Jacob-
son, 1976 Blaine Ave., Detroit, is enroute from Frankfurt, Germany,
to the U.S. for an honorable discharge from military service after
completion of a four-year enlistment. In Germany since Novem-
ber of 1947, Jacobson attended the Theological Seminary, Brook-
lyn, N. Y., before entering the service. From February, 1949, until
July of this year he was with the Chaplain Section of European
Command Headquarters. During that time he conducted religious
Sabbath services for Jewish military personnel in Frankfurt. As
a flying courier of the Chaplain Corps, Jacobson flew to and
from Berlin almost daily during the blockad eof Berlin by the
Russians. In recognition of his devotion to duty he was awarded
the U. S. Army's Humane Action medal. In addition, he was
presented with the Airlift Clasp for actual flight activities.
Mrs. Sidney Samter, of Calvert Ave., held an open house Nov.
3 to welcome home her son, Sgt. Alan James, of the Marine Corps,
and his bride, the former Marcella Dowell, who were married Oct.
13, in Wilmar, Calif. The James' are now residing in Norfolk
Where Sgt. James is stationed. Among the .guests at the reception
was Flora Kahn, of Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry B. Park of 18224 Oak Drive- have returned
from a two months tour of Europe and Israel.
Mrs. Samuel Glogower, Mrs. Joseph Welt, and Mrs. Regene
Freund Cohane were in New York to attend the board of directors'
meeting of the National Council of Jewish Women.
Mrs. Leonard Wiener of Detroit has been named a member
of the program committee for the 20th annual General Assembly
of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds to be
held Nov. 30-Dec. 2, at Edgewater Beach Hotel, Chicago, Julian
Freeman of Indianapolis, CJFWF president, announced.
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Landau of West Outer Drive were in
Cleveland over the weekend to attend the bar mitzvah of the
Ezra Shapiro's son.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Phillips of Calvert Ave. have as their
house guest for the winter season, their cousin from Tel-Aviv, I
Mrs. Muskowitz.
Dr. and Mrs. Martin Schaeffer of Warrington Drive and their
children have returned from a drive to Cleveland where Dr.
Schaeffer attended a medical convention. ; .
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lewis, Jr., of Boston Blvd., are enjoying
a European holiday. They were in Paris the past fortnight, and
now are in Venice. They will return home, via the Queen Mary,
about the middle of December.
Mr. and Mrs. William Frank of Wildemere Ave. will leave
Sunday for a week in New York.
Mrs. Monte Wittleshofer of Whitmore Road is expected back
this week from a month's stay in Boston with members, of her
