The report, cabled from Beirut, capital of Lebannon, says that Al Misri, organ of the Wafd party and the largest newspaper in Egypt, published an answer from Ayatollah Sayed Ghassena Kashani, radical Persian Islamic political and religious leader, who had been asked to say what he had done about the appeal made to him by the teachers of the Islamic University of Al Azhar in Cairo to use his in- fluence to have Iran withdraw her recognition of Israel. Ac- cording to Al Misri, he answer- ed: "We requested the Foreign Office to withdraw the Iranian Minister from the so-called Is- rael capital and a decree will be issued so that you and the Is- lamic world will know that the Iranian Islamic people does not Rosh Hashanah 5712 sees 19- month-old David Levine on th road to complete cure in a TB hospital maintained by the Joint Distribution Committee in Is- rael. NBC Refuses Comment On Dropping of Loeb For Communist Ties NEW YORK, (AJP)—A Na- tional Broadcasting Company spokesman told the American Jewish Press that the network had no comment on persistent reports that Philip Loeb, who plays the role of "Jake" on "The Goldbergs," had been ousted on charges of *Communist sympa- thies. Among the veterans and other groups which have fought Loeb on these grounds was the Ameri- can Jewish League Against Communism. The NBC spokesman said that Mollie Berg; creator and star of the Jewish family program, was •now in Europe and that she was the only member of the cast who has been signed by NBC which has grabbed the program from CBS. The spokesman said that when Mollie returns, the rest of the cast would be signed. He declined to reply to a question as to whether Loeb was among those scheduled for signing. The latest issue of Red chan- nels, a listing of alleged pro- Communists, charged that Loeb was affiliated in one manner or another with more than a dozen pro-Red groups and activities. Loeb could not be reached for comment. A spokesman for the Ameri- can Jewish League Against Com- munism confirmed the group's assistance in opposing Loeb's radio role. "I'll bet anything he doesn't appear on the program again," the spokesman said. American Jew to Head Law School at Oxford NEW YORK (AJP)—A profes- sor of law recently became the first American to be elected to head one of the colleges at Eng- land's famous Oxford University and the second American Jew to become a King's Counsel. Prof. Arthur L. Goodhart, nephew of Senator Herbert Leh- man, became a professor of law at University College of Oxford in 1930. Since then his fame as an expert in the common philos- ophy underlying British and American law has spread until Prof. Goodhart has become one of the most respected members of the Oxford faculty. Aside from being the first American to head the Oxford faculty of law, Goodhart is also one of the few Americans ever to be knighted and the second American Jew ever to be named a King's Counsel (a barrister taking special preeminence in an English court). The first American Jew to be so named was Judah Benjamin, onetime secretary of the Confederacy during the • American Civil War who flew to England, became a British subject and rose to lame in English legaldom,--- recognize the fraudulent Govern- ment established there to oppose Islam and disperse its sons.
