M. Kaplan, representative of the Jewish Agency in Cuba. Since Israel's total need of sugar is about 35,000 tons a year, the agreement with Cuba will,. cover the largest part of it, Mr. Kap- lan pointed out. "But I have written this book also for Gentiles, lest they be unwilling to realize, or all too ready to overlook, the fact that out of blood, fire, tears and ashes a new specimen of human being was born, a specimen com- pletely unknown to the world for over 1800 years, 'the fighting Jew'." Begin explains that British 'readers "will read in my book some harsh words about their rulers," but he continues to say that the hate which led to the revolt against the British was inspired by their rule in Pales- tine, and is not a hate of the British people. The author explains he has written the book "for the sake of truth."
