Rubiner stated "we all want
him to know that we wish him
personal health and strength
and that we wish him and his
colleagues continued success in
the heroic tasks of construction
and reconstruction which are
making the land of Israel a
strong and self-sufficient na-

Speaking of his trip to Israel,
Rubiner continued, "With -my
own eyes I have seen a new day
and a bright civilizing light
emerging in Israel. Let us catch
the spirit of that new day and
help keep alive the light of free-
dom and independence, which
we as Americans hold so dear
to our hearts. Let us keep alive
the light of culture and religion
and social justice, the great
principles that are held in com-
mon by all of us, as Jews and
as Americans."
As president of The Jewish
Welfare Federation, Rubiner
said, "I join with Mr. Osnos and
you other leaders of the Bond
campaign, to voice my plea for
the investment program that
makes these bonds possible."
Max Osnos, chairman of the
Detroit Israel bond drive, who
presided, reported that bonds in
the amount of $2,520,000 were
sold thus far—$1,435,000 having
been remitted in cash.
