turned from an extended tour of
Israel and Jewish communities
in North'Africa. '
Pelavin and Liebert said that
more than 200 leaders of Jewish
communities in Michigan will
take Part in, the . all-day session.
Plans for the transfer to Israel
of 60,000 Jews by year's end
will be discussed in the frame-
work of the United Jewish Ap-
peal's requirement for $35,000,-
000 in cash by December 31 and
the 200 leaders in attendance
will seek to determine Michi-
gan's share in raising this urgent
short-term goal.
The co-chairmen emphasized
that raising in the state of sub-
stantial sums toward the $35,-
000,000 cash goal would help ex-
pedite the movement of Jews to
Israel from Romania,''Iran and
Libya and would be instrumental
in helping to relieve Israel's
present food crisis, which has
struck with •especial severity at
more than 100,000 newcomers in
Israel immigrant camps.
