UJA. Local Collections
5% Above Last Year

Collection on pledges to the
1951 Allied Jewish Campaign are.
running 5.5 percent ahead of
p a y m e, n t s for a comparable
period last year, George M.
Stutz, vice-president of the De-
troit Service Group, revealed at
a collections report meeting.
At this time last year, Stutz
said, 37 percent of the campaign
pledges had been paid, while
42.5 percent of 1951 funds have
already been sent on their way
to support the scores of causes
included in the Allied Jewish
Campaign.
Calling upon Campaign work-
ers and Detroit Service Group
members to take part in the col-
lection effort, Stutz pointed out
that a year-around program has
been developed toward transla-
ting pledges into cash—with re-
activation of trade division col-
lection comittees and assignment
of Harold Kempner of he Jew-
ish Welfare Federation staff to
coordinate the program.
