Pioneer Women Urge U. S.
Jewish Skills for Israel Efforts
CHICAGO, (JTA) — A resolu-
tion calling upon American Jews
to contribute their "knowledge
and skills" to Israel was adopted
at the 12th biennial national
convention of the Pioneer Wo-
men, women's Labor Zionist or-
ganization in America. The 600
delegates from 400 chapters
throughout the United States
agreed the organization must
continue its tasks of rebuilding
in Israel, of helping absorb the
newcomers to the Jewish state
and of aiding in the mainten-
ance of the general cultural
level in that country,
The convention endorsed the
aims of the 23rd World Zionist
Congress which set the immed-
iate tasks of Zionism as the
strengthening of the Jewish
state, the ingathering of the ex-
iles and the achievement of the
unity of the Jewish people. The
.delegates also greeted the de-
cision of thasUN Security Coun-
cil to instruct Egypt to lift the
anti-Israel blockade at the Suez
Canal.
Abraham Harmon, counsellor
of the Israel consulate in New
York, spoke of Israel's readiness
at all armistice agreements be-
tween Israel and the four Arab
nations as evidence that a com-
mon accord could be reached by
direct negotiation.
