Kroll, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Samuel Kroll, became the bride
of Franklin D. Solway, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Solway. The
ceremony was held at Turover
Temple Aug. 19. Rabbi Segal
officiated.
Miss Ann Kirman, of Califor-
nia., attended the bride as maid
of honor. Misses Sylvia Shriman,
Lillian Tabak, Helen Budney
and Shirley Wallis served as
bridesmaids. Flower girl was
Linda Jane Beale.
Paul Solway, brother of the
bridegroom, was best man, Ush-
ers included Solomon Kroll, Is-
rael Kroll, Meyer Gold, and Ar-
thur Newberg. Mr. and Mrs.
Samuel Bielewich, aunt and un-
cle of the bride also were in the
bridal party.

chancellors night Tuesday, at

AJ Committee TV Program
Begins Third Seasbn in Fall

The American Jewish Com-
mittee's television program,
"Morning Chapel," the oldest
weekly religious program on
television, will celebrate its third
anniversary this fall after hav-
ing been viewed by an 'estimated
30,0010,000 persons.
Begun by the radio . and tele-
vision department of the Ameri-
can Jewish Committee in No-
vember, 1.948, "Morning Chapel,"
can be seen. in New York and
parts of New Jersey and Con-
necticut..

Anita Cohane Conrad, to Capt.
Robert Bernard Gerendasy, son

dasy, of the Lee Plaza Hotel, on
Sept. 9, in San Antonio, Tex.
where the bridegroom is station-
ed while serving in the Army
Dental Corps. The parents of
the bride and bridegroom were

Mrs. Harry Brown announce the
marriage on Aug. 26 of their
daughter Lois, to Myron NoVitz,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert No-
vitz, at the Fort Wayne Hotel.
The newlyweds will make their
home in Lansing upon their re-
turn from their honeymoon at
the Edgewater Beach Hotel,
Chicago.

SCHWARTZ - SLEEPER: To
the strains of Hebrew melodies,
Florence Sleeper became the
bride of Sheldon Schwartz on
Sept. 2 at the Young Israel Cen-
ter.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Sleeper of
Elmhurst Ave. The bridegroom
is the son of Mrs. Harry
Schwartz of Sturtevant Ave. and
the late Harry Schwartz.
Rabbi Samuel H. Prero offi-
ciated.
For her wedding, the bride
chose a ballerina length gown
of white lace. A fingertip veil
fell from a pearl crown. Her
bouquet was white roses cen-
tered with a white orchid.
Shirley Molodofsky, the
bride's sister was matron of hon-
or. Bridesmaids included Arline
Schwartz, Miriam .Schwartz,
Barbara Schwartz, Rae Block
and Phyllis Ash.
Jack Rosen was best man.
Ushers were Yehudah Cohen,
Norman Katz, Allan Bressler and
Arthur and David Schwartz,
brothers of the bridegroom.
After a honeymoon in the
East, the newlyweds will reside
on Strathmoor Ave.

In cooperation with other
women's groups, Council mem-
bers may participate in Hebrew
classes and r elated Biblical
studies offered by the Midrasha
(College of Jewish Studies). The
classes begin Oct. 24, meeting
once a week for a 10-week series.

Epstein at TY. 6-0019. Registra-
tion fee is $3.
The season's first informal
meeting will be held on Monday
at 12:30 p.m. at the home of
Mrs. Eugene •Lastar, 3761 Sturte-
vant. A review of the Jewish
world scene will be the center of
attention.
Mrs. Samuel Aaron will pre-
sent first hand views of Jewish
life in Israel as witnessed on a
recent visit.
The school of education of He-
brew University in Jerusalem
will be the beneficiary of $5,000
worth of American books on
general education as a result of
a cooperative program establish-
ed by the National Council and
CARE. CARE will obtain, ship,
and deliver the books the Coun-
cil purchases.
The NCJW has been a source
of major financial support for
the school, which is the only
high school teachers' training
institution in Israel. To meet the
increased needs of Israel's school
system, the School of Education
has embarked on a major pro-
gram of expansion of teacher
training.

The National Council of Jew-
ish Women has appointed Mrs. president of the Jewish National
Herbert Eskin chairman of its Fund Council of Detroit, this
week expressed thanks to Con-
gregation Beth Moses, Linwood
and Oakman, for exemplary
work in behalf of the JNF for
the Holy Days.
The JNF leaders pointed out
that this synagogue taxes every
purchaser of tickets for Holy
Day services a minimum of $1
for the JNF, thus setting a high
standard for JNF synagogue
work.
