According to Allen, Abdullah accused King Farouk of Egypt, the ex-Mufti, Azzam Pasha, secretary-general of the - Arab League, of coward- ice, venality and betrayal. The Arab League organized the in- vasion of Palestine in the Israel War of Independence but later expelled Abdullah, charging him with "friendliness" to the Jews of Israel.
