Editor, The Jewish News:
I should like to share an ex-
ceedingly interesting experience
with readers of The Jewish
News.
I have just completed a two-
week workshop course at the
graduate school of Wayne Uni-
versity in Human Relations —
Democracy in Action, directed
by Dr. Marian Edman, eminent
educator.
The group in attendance con-
sisted of about 70 school super-
visors, principals, high school
and elementary school instruc-
tors, white and colored. Only
two were Jewish.
These educators came from
all parts of Michigan and prac-
tically every state in the Union.
I was most agreeably surprised
to find that our Jewish Com-
munity Council along , with the
local ADL office were repre-
sented on the teaching staff of
this workshop.
The representatives of the JCC
and ADL were instrumental in
arranging a friendship tour to
various places of interest in-
cluding a visit to Cong. Shaarey
Zedek where Rabbi Morris Ad-
ler delivered a most inspiring
and instructive talk on basic
principles in Judaism.
The representatives of the
Jewish agencies were lauded by
the entire group for the tour.
The JCC and ADL are also to
be heartily commended for the
careful and dignified manner in
which they have exposed the
group to literature and f i 1 in s
dealing with inter-group rela-
tions.
Judging from comments made
by many teachers who heard
Rabbi Adler speak and who read
pamphlets and saw the films
"One God" and "Your Neighbor
Celebrates," I felt that o u r
agencies performed a great serv-
ice to our Jewish community by
their active participation in the
Human Relations Workshop.

Central Agency for Education
Proposed for Jewish Schools
Editor, The Jewish News:
Believing in democracy in
Jewish education, I came to the
realization (after an exhaustive
study of Jewish education in
America) that only a Bureau of
Jewish Education representing
all schools with a positive atti-
tude towards Judaism can give
substance to such an objective.
In this connection it is im-
portant to point out that of the
eight large cities in the United
States having a JeWish popula-
tion of 75,000 people and over,
Detroit is the only community
without a central agency for
Jewish education.
