Miss Jean Jaslove, of Sturtevant Ave., is vacationing in Miami
Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Jay Wainer, of Northlawn Ave., have returned
from an extended motor trip through Minnesota, Wisconsin and
northern Michigan.
Misses Lue and Sylvia Helfgott, of *23 Pontiac Road, West
Hartford, Conn., were entertained extensively by many relatives
and friends during their recent fortnight Detroit visit. They were
house guests of Miss Peggy Knapp, 18464 Prairie, and Miss Rosalie
Abromovitz, 18295 Monica. Among those entertaining them
were: Dr. and Mrs. Harold A. Maxmen, Mrs. R.uebin Levin, Mr.
and Mrs. Sam Z. Hirschman; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Bick, Sidney
Gottlieb, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Bialeck, Misses Ann B. Brooks, Evelyn
Miller, Elaine Weingarden, Emily Schultz and Arlene Kanners.
Mrs. Alfred A. Helfgott, of West Hartford, Conn., formerly of
Detroit, and Miss Elaine Weingarden, of 17206 San Juan Drive,
Detroit, were recently honored at a dinner party at the Corner
House, Farmington, Conn., on the occasion of their birthdays.
Miss Weingarden was a guest of the Helfgotts for a week, and
then joined the Misses Lue and Sylvia Helfgott for a week's stay
at Mabrey Hotel, Ocean Beach, New London, Conn.
Dr. and Mrs. Leo Orecklin of Oak Drive returned last Saturday
from a three week's visit in Israel and Italy.
The Women's Auxiliary of Detroit Post 135, Jewish War
Veterans, entertained 135 patients from Percy Jones Hospital last
week. The patients were guests of the Auxiliary at a baseball game
and later at dinner.
Miss Shirley Schubiner, of Webb Ave., is spending her vacation
at Harvard University where she is completing her musical edu-
cation.
Mr. and Mrs. James Rachleff and children, of Pasadena Ave.,
have returned from a vacation at Fidelman's in South Haven.
Mrs. Joseph Hirschman and Mrs. Jack Silver have just re-
turned from a pleasant two weeks at South Haven, Mich.
Honored at a recent champagne hour at Landis' Omena Inn
were Mr. and Mrs. Martin Block and Dr. J. A. Schwartzberg, who
won the weekly dance contest. Sarah Freedman, anoner Omena
guest, was also honored for her rendition of several vocal numbers
and readings at an oneg shabbat.
Mrs. Samuel Bader recently returned from a vacation at
Omena Inn.
Mrs. Rachel -Lankin, of 3732 Humphrey, is planning to leave
for Israel Sept. 10. She will be reunited with her sister, whom
she has not seen for more than 50 years.

`Not So Mysterious Mufti'
Series Begins Next Week

The behind the scenes schemes and maneuvers of one
of Jewry's most cunning enemies, the notorious ex-Grand
Mufti of Jerusalem, recently implicated in the assassination
of King Abdullah, will be revealed in three copyrighted ex-
clusive American Jewish Press articles, "The Not So Myster-
ious Mufti," beginning next week in the Jewish News.
The AJP series will be authored by Ruth Karpf, who
interviewed the ex-Grand Mufti during his reign of terror
in Palestine. Miss Karpf will take the readers of The Jewish
News behind the plots hatched by the ex-Mufti; his links
with the Moslem Brotherhood; his deals with the Nazis
and a full view into his present activities aimed at' stirring
unrest throughout the strategic Middle East.
