Mumford Student Wins Scholarship Fifteen-year-old Richard Ko- misaruk planned to enter his junior year at Mumford High School in September. A letter he received Saturday from the Ford Foundation, however, will send him to the University of Chicago. Richard was one of 200 young men selected throughout the nation to participate in the pre- induction scholarship program of the Foundation. Ac- cording to Richard the Ford Foundation made these scholar- ships available so that scholas- tically promising young men could receive a few years of higher" education before induc- tion by the Army. The University of Ohicago is one of four universities partici- pating in the pre-induction scholarship program, the others being Columbia, Yale and Wis- consin. Richard, who will not be 16 until Sept. 12, is the son of Sam- uel Komisaruk of 16919 Prairie and the late Mrs. Komisaruk. While he has not decided on a particular vocation, Richard leans strongly toward medicine. An older brother, Edwin, was accepted to Wayne University's Medical School for the fall semester. While at Mumford, Richard was editor of the school paper, the Mumford Mercury.
