Samuel B. Ostrow Quits
As Local OPS Counsel
Ostrow, long an
active member of the Detroit
Samuel B.
(
Bar Association, resigned as dis-
trict counsel of the Detroit Of-
fice of Price Stabilization, it was
announced by Philip A. Hart,
director. One of a small group
of people who put aside his pri-
vate law practice to organize the
local OPS office in early Febru-
ary, Ostrow returned to his own
law firm June 15.
As a former counsel for the
OPA during the war years, Os-
trow's services were invaluable,
Hart said, in setting a course of
action for the early stages- of
the OPS here.
Ostrow is a former chief as-
sistant attorney general for
Michigan; vice chairman of the
Detroit Bar Association crime
study commission, a former spe-
cial attorney for the Department
of Justice and as regional at-
torney for the War Labor Board
has wide understanding of labor
problems as well as those of
government.
Libins Honored with
10 Trees in Israel
In honor of the return from
Israel of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron H.
Libin of 220 Benjamin St., Kala-
rnazoo, Abraham Eliahu Sidder
planted 10 trees in Israel. Mr.
Sidder stated that Mr. Libin in-
jected new life in communal af-
fairs since his return and he
desired to honor him for his
efforts.

Christian leaders who left last
Saturday on a study tour to
Lebanon, Jordan and . Israel.
This is the fourth tour ar-
ranged by the American Chris-
tian Palestine Committee, whose
executive secretary, Rev. Karl
Baehr, will serve as tour leader.
The group will meet with gov-
ernment officials and will study
in the three countries..

Grant-in-Aid to Israel

Franklin D. Roosevelt urged
Congress to pass the bill ask-
ing for a $150,000,000 grant-
in-aid for Israel. She empha-
sized that the bill "is one that
will assist in insuring that
Israel remains a bastion of
democracy and will continue
to offer hope and freedom for
those Jews who today find
themselves under intolerable
conditions."
