The late Fanny Brice left an
estate valued at more than
$2,000,000, Broadwayites-in-the-
know estimate. It's a safe bet
that the famous Baby Snooks
character died with its creator,
Fanny. Networks won't touch the
idea of a sub for the role—too
close to the little lady who made
the brat America's most beloved
make-believe child.

his TV plans for next fall. The
Jewish language-getter can't de-

will do.

Town in Quebec Won't
Employ Jewish Teachers
MONTREAL, (JTA)—Although
80 percent of the pupils in the
Protestant schools in Outremont,
a suburb of Montreal, are Jew-
ish, the school authorities re-
fuse to employ Jewish teachers,
it was charged at the fourth
annual conference of the Quebec
Federation of Home and School
Associations. The conference de-
cided to probe this discrimina-
tory policy.
The refusal to employ Jewish
teachers in the Outremont
schools "virtually closes the
teaching profession to the ma-
jority of high school students,"
the report stated. The report
also expressed alarm over the
increase in the number of Jew-
