1 Bettie Hyman Acts

Mr. Saul D. Cohen, a former Detroiter will be honored by his
daughters on his 70th birthday at an open house reception from
8 to 11 p.m., June 21, at 15025 Steel. No cards.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Seedberg have left on the Queen Mary for
an extended tour of Europe. They will visit Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Seedberg, of Queen Anne's Grove, London, England, and travel
through the British Isles, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Be-
fore leaving they were honored at a family dinner tendered by
their daughter, Joyce.
Marty Katz, of Pingree Ave., and Maynard Stone, of Gladstone
Ave., left for Grossinger's in up-state New York and will return
May 23 to attend a birthday party honoring Molly Friedman.
Miss Shirley Smith, whose marriage will be on Saturday, was
recently entertained by Mesdames Jack Gold, Thomas Firsht,
Joseph Brozgold, Fren Bankle, Sam Bankle, Murray Schwartz,
Max Sherman, Sam Fishman and Misses Fay Lafer, Esther Lafer ,
Connie Karbal, Mitzi Goodman and Mrs. Jack Schneider;
Attending the annual convention of the Michigan Linen
Board of Trade at Greenbush Inn this month were John Isaacs,
Sam Auslander, B. B. Hertz, David A. Goldman, A. B. Miller, H. R.
Nelson, William Klafer, Saul Waxman, M. Shufro, Sam Sandler,
L. Nichamin, Maury Sandler, Saul Rosenberg, Joe Greenbaum,
Harry and Bill Schumer, M. Rosen, Monroe Lake and Sol R. Colton.
Miss Lila Brenner, whose marriage to Corp. Carl Lessen, U. S.
Air Force, will take place Sunday, was honored recently with en-
tertainments by Mesdames J. Sylvan, - M.' Golde, H. A. Lessen, A.
Glaser, Mary Scott, R. Rowlson, Sol Brenner, William Belinsky, H.
Brown and Miss D. Polak.
Entertainment for Lieba Moss in honor of her future marriage
to Pvt. Herbert B. Weingarden was given by Mesdames Ann Zald
and Myron Rosenthal and Miss Harriet Nochman; Mrs. Albert
Dicken and Miss Roberta Weingarden; Mrs. Max Aaronson ,and
Misses Sylvia Denneberg and Ilene Morof; Mesdames Nathan
Baker, Asher Moss and Harmon Moss; and Mrs. E. Burton Wolf.
Dr. and Mrs. Charles Gitlin have returned from a visit to
Albany, N. Y., where they attended the graduation of their
nephew, Stanley M. Ball, from the Albany Medical College. He is
the son of Mrs. Ethel Ball and the late Dr. Abraham Ball. Dr.
Stanley Ball took pre-medical studies at...the University of Michi-
gan, Union University and was awarded a research fellowship at
the Albany Medical College. He is a veteran of World War II.
Miss Jerry Schweitzer, of Sturtevant Ave., has returned from
a trip to Mexico City, Acapulco and California.
Guests at the annual dinner meeting of the United Hebrew
Schools at the Adas Shalom Synagogue on June 5 included Ben
and Aaron Neustadt of Columbus, 0., lifelong friends of Mr. and
Mrs. Bernard Isaacs, who were honored on the eve of their depar-
ture for Israel. Present at the dinner were the Isaac's children,
Mrs. Annette Kravitz, Irving, Reuben and Manuel Isaacs. Irving
came to the dinner from his home in Pittsburgh one day after
his wife gave birth to a son. Delegations from Flint, Windsor
and Mt. Clemens also came to the dinner to honor Mr. and Mrs.
Isaacs.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Cantor, of Chicago Blvd., will hold open
house from 2 to 5 p.m•., Sunday in honor of their son, Herbert
Clive, a graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School.

Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Blacher of Greenlawn Ave. have re-
turned from a week's holiday in New York City.
Mrs. Isaac Gilbert of Third Ave. is leaving next week for her
summer home in Charlevoix.
Dr. and Mrs. Albert Krohn of Cambridge Rd. have just re-
turned from a fortnight's visit to New York City and Washington,
D. C.
'Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smilay of Balmoral Dr. were hosts this
month to the latter's mother, Mrs. Goff, of Pittsburgh.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Becker of Strathcona Dr. will entertain
with a dinner party at the Franklin Hills Country Club tomorrow
evening to honor the British Consul General, William and Mrs.
Storey, and their guests from Argentina, Senora Hertha Barsdorf
and son, Gerd, and the Senorita Dore Maubrae.

Marion Sanders Chooses
Brandeis University

Marion Sanders, 17 years old,
daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Alex-
ander Sanders, of Broadstreet
Blvd., who is now completing her
freshman year at the University
of Michigan, will transfer to
Biandeis University in the Fall.

Jerry K. Jacobson will receive
his medical degree from the
University of Michigan at exer-
cises in Ann Arbor on Saturday.
Jacobson previously received his
DDS degree from the U. of M.
Bettie H y m a n, of 2994 Ro- dental school in 1944.
After his appointment to the

tray a cockney miss in the
opening show of the season,
"Tons of Money," which runs
from June 19 to July 1. Miss
Hyman is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Ben Hyman, of Calvert
Ave.
A graduate of Central High
School in 1942, Miss Hyman en-
rolled in Wayne University, ma-
joring in speech and English.
In 1945 she studied at the
American Academy of Drama-
tic Arts in New York. Shortly
after, she studied with Philip
Loeb, Mr. Goldberg of radio and
television fame.
Acting around the country for
seven years, Miss Hyman has
appeared in summer stock in
Westchester County, N.Y., Jama-
cia, N.Y., Erie, Pa. and Los An-
geles. Some of the plays in
which she has acted include

"Kiss and Tell," "Jacobowsky

and the' Colonel" and "Junior
Miss."
Miss Hyman appeared at
Will-O-Way last summer in
"Two Blind M i c e," "George
Washington Slept Here" and
"Harvey." She was assistant to
William W. Merrill, director of
the Playhouse, who directed the
Youth Education League's show
last winter. Miss Hyman has ac-
cepted the positi6n of drama di-
rector of the Music Study Club
of Detroit for next winter.

The engagement of Jean
Weinstein, daughter of Mrs.
Molly Weinstein, of Tyler Ave.,
and the late Mr. Albert Wein-
stein, was announced recently
to Jay Becker. son of Mr. and
Mrs. Morris Becker. Both young
people attended Wayne Univer-
sity. Becker is now a student at
