Another step forward in De-
troit's religious life will be
marked by the Jewish commu-
nity on Sunday, June 17, as
formal ground - breaking cere-
monies take place at the site of
the new Beth Aaron Synagogue,
Wyoming and Thatcher.
Beginning at 12 noon, a pro-
cession will march f r om the
present synagogue to the new
site to dig the first shovel of
ground priOr to excavation. The
procession will be led by Harry
Green, president of the syna-
gogue.
Green will be accompanied by
Albert M. Fenkell and Laurence
Friedman, co-chairman of the
building committee. The special
service for the ground-breaking
will be conducted by Rabbi Ben-
jamin H. Gorrelick, spiritual
leader of the congregation. Can-
tor David Katzman, of Cong.
Bnai Moshe, will assist in the
services.
The committee in charge of
the ground-breaking includes
Jay Harris, Louis Levine, Morris
Strasner a n d Alex Margulies.
Morris Litvin and Jack Raisin
are chairman and co-chairman
of the building plans and oper-
ations committee.
That evening at 7 p.m. ; at the
Latin Q u a r t e r, Beth Aaron
members will hold their first
dance. Ran Zaff, comedian and
emcee, will perform with sever-
al well known stage and radio
stars in an hour and a half floor
show. Mickey Woolf and. his
orchestra will also be featured.
A brief installation of newly
elected officers will be held, with
Rabbi Gorrelick, installing offi-

of officers of the Sisterhood and
Men's Club of Adas Shalom
Synagogue, on Wednesday, 8:30
p. m., in the synagogue social
hall. The public is invited.
Sisterhood officers are Mes-
dames Philip Helfman, presi-
dent; Herbert L. Harris, Alex
Brooks and Ben Morganroth,
vice-presidents; George Liss, Sol
Slomovitz, David Aaron, Ben
Bailes, Saul Brenner and Harry
Fesenstein, secretaries; and DaYe
Dunsky, treasurer.

In his annual report, Nate S.
Shapero, retiring president, re-
viewed the numerous diversified
activities of the Temple during
the past year, and stated that
Beth El now has membership
of over 1600 families, the largest
in its history. Mr. Shapero was
presented with a citation for dis-
tinguished service to the con-
gregation.
