was just toward them and- to-
ward everybody. Our doctrine is
brotherhood, goodwill • and dig-
ity of the human being." He
added : "In humility I say to the
Jewish community that I feel
I am among friends. You know
our thoughts. We wish harmony
and mutual tolerance."

Couples Group of Cong. Bnai
Moshe at its annual meeting.

Canadian Jewish Congress
Bars Leftist Organizations

MONTREAL, (JTA)—The Do-
minion Council of the Canadian
Jewish Congress, Eastern Divi-
sion, has decided to exclude
from membership the United
Jewish Peoples Order and'its af-
filiated bodies. Which have a
leftist orientation. These organi-
zations will,- according to the
decision, not tbe. asked to send
forthcoming
delegates to
plenary session - of the Canadian
Jewish Congress. The decision
-now needs ratifidation . by the
national executive of -the Cana-
dian Jewish Congress. • ,.
The Council has also consid-
ered steps for the financial re-
habilitation of the Jewish Peretz
Schools, which are on the verge
of closing their doors after an
existence of 38 years. Over 600
childran received their educa-
tion in the JeWish Peretz
Schools. The amalgamation of
the Peretz Schools with - the - Yid-
dish Folks Shulen was suggested
as a solution of the~ problem. .

Jews, Anti-Semites Trade Blows
SYDNEY, Australia, (JTA)—A
fist fight broke out here between
follbwers' of the . Jewish soccer
club "Hakoah" and the new Aus-
tralian soccer team "Hungari-
an," following a game in which
"Hakoah" emerged victorious.
Seeing their team lose, some of
the followers of "Hungaria"
shouted: "It's a pity that Hitler
did not finish all you Jews."
This precipitated an exchange
of blows, which was halted by
the police.

'Jerusalem, My City' Is
New Council Offering

• A new film on Israel, "Jeru-
salem, My City," is now 'van-
able to organizations from the
film library of the Jewish Com-
munity Council. The film is
about a blind Israel veteran in
his pursuits through the city,
and the many facets of life in
Jerusalem.

Five Michigan Congressmen
Back Grant-in-Aid Measure

Congressmen Dingell, O'Brien,
Rabaut, Ford and Machrowicz
of Michigan are included among
the 155 members of the U. S.
House of Representatives who
signed a bi-partisan declaration
supporting t h e $150,000,000
grant-in-aid bill for Israel.
The declara.tion was submit-
ted to House Majority Leader
John W. MacCormack and the
House Minority Leader Joe Mar-
tin Jr. A similar grant-in-aid
bill pending in the Senate has
the support of 36 Senators.
T h e Congressmen resolved
that "the United States: should

now grant economic assistance
to the Government of Israel in
order to assist it in absorbing its
large influx of immigration and
in developing its natural re-
sources and industries so that,
with its security and independ-
ence thus strengthened, Israel
may become a military, econom-
ic and ideological bastion for
the free world in the Middle
East, aiding in the maintenance
of world peace, security and
liberty and thereby assisting the
general welfare and security of
the United States."
