Exchanging Views

About 80 American businessmen will proceed to Israel within
the next few weeks with the intention of looking into business
opportunities there . . . The majority of them are members of the
Zionist Organization of America.
Is the Israeli press paying proper attention to Jewish life in
America? . . . An interesting exchange of views on this subject
took place at a reception given in New York by the ZOA to visit-
ing Israeli journalists . . . The picture that emerged from this
informal discussion, held at the Waldorf-Astoria 'Hotel under the
chairmanship of ZOA president Benjamin Browdy, was not to the
credit of the press in Israel ... It turns out that not only is news
of general Jewish life in the United States practically ignOred by
Israel newspapers, but even news of activities of the ZOA and
other American Zionist groups do not find much space there .. .
The picture is •different in the American Jewish press when it
comes to news from Israel . . . Here every detail of Israeli life
finds proper reflection . . . No wonder that Dr. Samuel Margoshes
and other speakers who participated in the discussion, appealed
to the visiting Israeli editors to build a 'paper bridge" between
American Jewry and the people of Israel . .. More attention on
the part of the Israel newspapers to Jewish life in the U.S. may
be the outcome of this useful and frank discussion.
