League Presents Rosenberg Awards
To Top Youth Leaders in Community
Bicur Cholem to Honor
Its 56th _4nniversary
At the closing meeting of the League of Jewish Women's
Organizations, the League's annual Mildred Simons Rosenberg
youth awards were presented. This year's winners, from the left,
include VIVIAN BOZENN who received an honorable mention:
Mrs. DAVID BLIGER, re-elected League president, who presented
the awards; JANET VOGEL, winner of first prize for young
women; Mrs. HARRY SINGER, representing Temple Israel, who
accepted the award for Toby Citrin, winner of the young men's
award; and Mrs. ROBERT DREWS, award committee chairman.
Closing their activities for the
season, the League of Jewish
Women's Organizations installed
officers who will head the 1951-
52 program of the League. Mrs.
Harry Becker, a past president,
was installing officer. Officers
are:
Mesdames David Kliger, presi-
dent; . Morton Snyder, William
Graham, Irving Small and_Rob-
ert S. Drews, vice-presidents;
Maurice Garelik, treasurer; Nor-
man Noble, Martin Naimark,
James V. Brown and Marvin B.
Levy, secretaries.
In recognition of significant
achievement in community serv-
ice; leadership and scholarship,
the annual Mildred Simons Ros-
enberg youth awards were pre-
sented to Janet Vogel, who won
a silver Menorah, and Toby Cit-
rin, who received a silver prayer
cup.
Janet is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. David Vogel, 2025
Glynn Ct., and Toby is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Citrin,
507 W. Grixdale. Bottp were first
prize winners.

Seventeen-year-old Miss Vogel
is a cum laude graduate of Cen-
tral High School where she was
a recipient of the Phi Beta Kap-
pa award. She is now a fresh-
man at University of Michigan.
She won on he basis of her
work in behalf of the Allied
Jewish Campaign, the cancer,
heart and polio drives and her
active participation in the Bnai
Brith Girls of which she is Mich-
igan Regional president.
She is also a member of the
Jewish Community Center, the
Girl Scouts and Temple Beth El.
Toby Citrin, who was in Wash-
ington, D. C., on a senior outing
with his graduating class from
Highland Park High School,
turned 17 earlier this month. Al-
ready he has given exemplary
service to the community.
Toby is the holder of at
least a dozen awards, which
he won either outright or by
placing high among the lead-
ers. In the Boy Scouts .(Temple
Israel troop) he is a star scout
and a member .af the honorary
camper society, the Order of
Red Arrow.
