U. S. Army's Bronze Star Medal
for "meritorious service" in "the
face of enemy action" in Korea

Musical Pageant
To Commemorate
250th Anniversary

A spectacular musical produc-
tion, with a cast of 1,200 per-
forming on five stage levels at
the University of Detroit Stadi-
um, will be viewed by more than
150,100 Detroiters in commeror-
ation of the city's 250th Birth-
day.
Entitled "City of Freedom" the
musical will be presented for
ten nights beginning July 13.
Deviating from a strict histori-
cal pattern, the show will depict
in music, dialogue and dance
the freedoms found in Detroit
over the years—freedom from
slavery, freedom of the living
wage, freedom from racial and
political intolerance, and free-
dom of time and space through
the invention of the automobile.

Jesuit priest.

Begins Haifa Trips

Installation of the new officers
of SGT. MORTON A. SILVER-
MAN POST and AUXILIARY will
be held at 8:30 p.m. Monday, in
the Memorial Home. Dorothy
Brown, state auxiliary president,
and Norman Berkley, state com-
mander, will be the installing of-
ficers. A social program will fol-
low the installation ceremonies,
featuring Max Sosin, humorist,
and Mickey and Sam Woolf, who
will perform musical selections.
A buffet supper for the mem-
bers and their guests will follow.

Miss Rhea Cashman of the
World-Wide Travel Bureau, 215
Majestic Bldg., stated this week
that a large number of Detroit-
ers are planning trips to Israel
and that she hopes to arrange
for several planned tours dur-
ing the coming few months.
Miss Cashman stated that the
SS Atlantic completely rebuilt,
entered the New York-Mediter-
ranean service and already is
becoming popular as a cruise
ship.
"With the SS Atlantic's de-
parture from New York on June
30, a regular service will be in-
itiated on this ship from New
York to Haifa," Miss Cashman
stated, "thereby marking the be-
ginning of a new epoch, since
she will be the fastest, largest
and truly most luxurious liner
in that service."

Jacob Savin to Tour
In Europe and Israel

Jacob Savin, of 3736 Fullerton,
owner of the Michigan Box Co.,
will revisit Israel where he was
a pioneer settler 28 years ago.
Savin, accompanied by his
wife, Stella, will leave Tuesday
aboard the Queen Elizabeth for
a two-month tour of England,
France, Italy, Switzerland,
Greece and Israel.
Before coming to this country,
Savin left his European home
and settled for two years in
Israel, working as a pioneer in
the Hebrew Theater, with which
he was associated.
