Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Hirschberg .(Viola Shogan) have moved
from Dumbarton Rd. and are now residing in their new home at
10834 Ludlow Ave., Huntington Woods.
Mrs. Lester Morrison (Rita Rosenthal) of Los Angeles spent a
few days in Pontiac visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Rosenthal
and with friends in Detroit enroute to New York, where she joined
her husband, Dr. Morrison. They are sailing shortly for Europe
and Israel where they plan to spend a few months. •
Mr. and Mrs. Milton H. Sims of Hartwell Ave. are expected
home this Saturday from a 10-day stay in Miami Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Rothstein have returned to Cambridge,
Mass., where he is a student at Harvard University after spending
the spring vacation with their parents, Dr. and Mrs. S. E. Gould
of Chesterfield Rd. and Mrs. Charles Rothstein of Whitmore Rd.
Mrs. Stanley Wilken and her small son of Baltimore are
spending the holiday week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benja-
min Laikin of LaSalle Blvd.
Rabbi and Mrs. Herbert Parzen of Jersey City, N. J., are spend-
ing the holiday week with his mother.
Mr. and Mrs. David Friedman of Webb Ave. have as their
guest her sister, Mrs. A. L. Horowitz of Cleveland.
Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel G. Klein of Whitmore Rd. have re-
turned from a few weeks' stay in Miami Beach.
Mrs. Jacob B. Neiman of Wildernere Ave. left on Sunday for
Kansas City where she is visiting with members of her family.
Mrs. Arthur Miller and her daughter, Cynthia, of Chicago
are spending the holiday week with her mother, Mrs. Samuel Lip-
chinsky of Leslie Ave.
Miss Mildred Rosenberg has returned to New York after
spending a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Rosenberg of Ohio Ave.
Mrs. Rolf Manko has returned to her home in Schenectady
after spending the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris
Gurevitch of Fullerton Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry J. Mendlow of Ward Ave. have returned
from a fortnight in Miami Beach where they were guests at the
Sea Isle.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Gerson of Whitmore Rd. are leaving this
Friday for Philadelphia, where they will visit their son-in-law and
daughter.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Kaye, who have been making an _extended
visit with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Barak
of London Ave., have left for Belgium where they will visit for
some weeks before returning to their home in Capetown, South
Africa.
David Kabaker of Edison Ave. is spending a few weeks in
Atlantic City, N. J.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Allen Rosenthal (Lillian Lewis) have
returned from a two-week honeymoon to Puerto Rico and the Vir-
gin Islands, and are now residing at 16872 Parkside.
Mrs. Minna Elleman, of the Briggs Hotel, has returned from
a 10-week visit in Los Angeles and Van Nuys, Calif., where she
visited her children Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Simons and grandson,
of Van Nuys.
June Fidler, Davida Robinson, Gloria Lewin, Ellen Siegal, Mar-
jorie Krause, and Jackie Smolensky, pledges of Iota Alpha Pi
Sorority, were honored at a dinner at Golden Pheasant Tea Room.
The pledges were initiated by Mrs. Muriel Goodman, national
chancellor of Iota Alpha Pi, and assisted by Joyce R. Kaplan,
chancellor of Nu Chapter at Wayne University.

Dr. Alexander Rosenfeld of
Israel, executive director of the
Brith Ivrith Olomith, the world-
wide culture federation, is now
touring the Middle West and
will visit Detroit, Flint, Toledo,
Pontiac and other communities.
Dr. Rosenfeld will address
Kvutzah Ivrith and other Hebra-
ists here on Saturday evening,
May 5, at the Rose Sittig Cohen
Bldg. He will also meet with
key people at a luncheon, ar-
ranged in his honor, on May 6,
in the Rose Sittig Cohen Bldg.

Rabbi Josef Blumenfeld, presi-
dent of the Rabbinical Court in
Tel Aviv and professor of the
Talmud at Sefas Emeth Rabbin-
ical Seminary in Jerusalem, is in
Detroit this week in behalf of
the seminary which seeks to
raise a $250,000 :.

feld.
Rabbi Blumenfeld studied un-
der Rabbis Josef Engel and
Abraham Sokotchover, two of
the greatest European rabbis.
He is editor of a book on Ram

"Gan Yosef." He is reputedly
one of the finest scholars of
Talmudical law in our age.

charter member, who was pres-
ent at the first meeting in 1891,
will say the prayer.
This group was organized as
the Temple Beth El Women's
Club, and in 1898 became a
member of the Michigan State
Federation of Women's clubs
and the Detroit Federation.
The club established a schol-
arship fund for needy students,
free traveling libraries for fac-
tories, study classes and aid to
immigrants. They instituted the
"penny lunch" for children at-
tending the Bishop and Clinton
schools (a forerunner of lunch-
rooms in the Detroit public
schools) and a clubhouse on
Rowena Street housed 30 girls.
In May, 1925, this group af-
filiated with the National Coun-
cil of Jewish Women. Impor-
tant continuing projects in-
cluded a Council Camp for
working girls and students,
which closed in 1941 after 16
successful years because of war
emergency a n d transportation
difficulties; an e x p e r i m ental
play school, and two Resale
Shops which support Council's
many services, including the
12th 'St. Council Center and
overseas projects.
Mrs. Joseph M. Welt, a local
past president, was elected na-
tional Council president in 1944
and president of the Interna-
tional Council in 1950.
Mrs. Ellis Fisher is in charge
of ticket sales for the May 7
event and is accepting reserva-
tions up= to Wednesday, May 2
at UN. 4-8133.
