During his stay here, as the
guest of Mr. and Mrs. Morris
Schaver, who established the
three-story Library at the Katz-
nelson Institute, Mr. Soroka
urged that Detroit Jews should
finance three fellowships at the
planned institutes in Israel this
summer. He announced that Mr.
Schaver is financing one fellow-
ship for a noted American
scholar.
Mr. Soroka announced t hat
the Sifriah (Library) built by
the Schavers will be dedicated
at the Katznelson Institute
this summer.
Murray E. Polakoff, executive
director of the American Friends
of the Katznelson Institute, who
accompanied Mr. Soroka to De-
troit, told of the inauguration
of a world seminar at the Beth
Berl Institute.
Non-Jews to Participate
A series of World Fellowships
is being established by t h e
American Friends to enable
American leaders and scholars,
Jewish and non-Jewish to par-
ticipate in the seminar.
Establishment of a co-educa-
tional boarding school for high
school students from English-
speaking countries also was an-
nounced by Polakoff.
The cost of an academic year's
study, $1800, includes boat trans-
portation to and from Israel;
maintenance and tuition fees;
tours of the country; etc.

Sharett Named
Acting Premier

JERUSALEM, (JTA)—The Is-
rael Cabinet appointed Foreign
Minister Moshe Sharett Acting
Premier during Premier David
Ben-Gurion's visit to the United
States. Sharett also will replace
Ben-Gurion in the post of Min-
ister for Defense.

Two German Mayors Ban
Films 'Immortal Beloved'

MUNICH, (JTA) — The film
"Immortal Beloved" produced by
the anti-Semitic director Veit
Harlan will not be shown in
Munich, it was announced by
Mayor Thomas Wimmer.
In Hamburg, Mayor Max
Brauer declared that he is op-
posed to showing the film in
any of Hamburg's cinemas since
its prOducer, Harlan, is "identi-
fied with Nazism and anti-Sem-
itism.
A German court at Schwein-
furt sentenced Erich Boettiger
and Otto Gasse each to f our
years imprisonment for the
murder of four Jews near the
town of Goerletz, in Silesia, on
June 30, 1934. Four other de-
fendants were acquitted.
Outlawed In Tyrol
INNSBRUCK-, Austria (JTA)-
The Veit Harlan film "Immortal
Beloved" will not be exhibited in
cinemas anywhere in the Tyi;ol,
Austria's southern- province, it
was •announced by Tyrolian po-
lice headquarters. The action
followed protests against the
film by former victims of the
Nazi;

Zionist Youth Group's Third Seder Sunday

Habonim, Labor Zionist Youth,
will present its 12th annual
third seder at 8:30 p.m., Sunday,
at the Woodward Jewish Cen-
ter. An original play, "Out of
t h e Wilderness," written by
Gerry Carson, Dave Wesley,
Rena Silver and Eleanor Gold-
berg, will be offered. Directors
are David Gottlieb and Gerry
Carson.
Habonim's choir, directed by
Moishe Silver and Eleanor Gold-
berg, will sing 10 songs, and the

Hashofar Panel Talks
On Jewish Music Month

"Jewish Music Month in Re-
trospect" will be the topic of a
panel to be held by Hashofar
Society for Advancement of Jew-
ish Music on Sunday evening, at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jay
Rosenshine.
Herman Jacobs, chairman of
Hashofar, will be moderator,
Mrs. Albert J. Silber, Rabbi Sid-
ney Akselrad of Temple Beth El
and a member of IZFA will be
the •participants in the sympo-
sium. Community singing will be
led by Lillian Robbins Zellman
and refreshments will be served.

A special Hagadah has been
prepared by Judy Kay, Lil Wo-

for the annual celebration, Mr.
Crohn announced. A dramatic
massing of Colors. by local units
of Jewish War Veterans will
mark the opening of the pro-
gram. It will be followed by the
presentation of Israel's colors by
a group of local veterans of the
Israel army and singing of the
national anthems-
As president of the Detroit
Zionist Council, co-sponsor of
the event with the Jewish Com-
munity Council, .Mr. Crohn will
be chairman of the event.
Mr. Schlussel announces that
a dramatic Sequence prepared
for the occasion will be narrated
by Harry Goldstein. The chor-
uses of Workmen's Circle and
Halevy Singing Society will

essary in order for her to reach
Cleveland by 2:30 p.m. that
afternoon for a Cleveland rally.

made by Irving W. Schlussel,
chairman of the program
committee, and Lawrence W.
Crohn, general chairman of
the celebration, that children
in religious schools are expect-
ed to be released that morn-
ing from all classes to permit
them to attend the celebration
at the State Fair Grounds
