An exciting trip to Cleveland
on April 27, 28, 29, is in store
for three members of Temple
Israel's debating team. The
lucky three who are going to
contest with the debating team
of Temple on the Heights, Cleve-
land, are Joan Rothenberg, John
Shepard, and Emily Schultz. The
issue in question will be, "Re-
solved, That Universal Military
Training ' Be
Made Compulsory."
Temple Israel will take the neg-
ative standpoint.
The debaters will go to Cleve-
land by train. For entertain-
ment, other than debating, they
will attend some of the activi-
ties of Cleveland's NFTY chap-

at the same time.

Six of Mumford's future radio
stars spent considerable time in
enthusiastic preparation for the
radio program they appeared on
last week. Tom Gregory, Carole
Goldstein, Bob Segar, Elaine
Koffman, Russ Palmer and
Nancy Hahn composed the panel
on WJR's weekly program,
"Youth Looks at Youth." The
topic discussed was "How can
youth learn respect for law and
orcler?"

The D o m i c a n s, Mumford's
hostess club for luncheons and
teas, took five new members into
its organization last week.
Before being admitted into the
club, Marcia Pliskow, Faye Label,
Margaret Nersesian, 'Sandra
Klein and Ruth Ellen Katzman
had to wear ribbons in their'
hair for two Clays and get 50
signatures on a hard boiled egg.
The girls were formally initi-
ated at an informal tea where
they were sworn in and received
their pins.

Famous Cleaners Doubles
Its Storage Facilities

Famous Cleaners have more
than doubled its fur storage fa-
cilities this year, Sidney Rose-
man, president of the firm, an-
nounced Wednesday.
"We have just installed more
of the most modern cold stor-
age vaults to accommodate
thousands of our new clients
who demand absolute protec-
tion for their furs that only
Famous Cleaners can give
them," Mr. Roseman said.
According to Mr. Roseman, a
new pick-up service has also
been initiated by Famous Clean-
ers this season. "In an effort to
reduce the worries of fur owners
to a minimum, we have de-
signed a complete fur service
that places all responsibility on
0 u r shoulders," Mr. Roseman
pointed out.
"All that a fur owner need
now do is pick up her phone
and dial TE. 1-1111 and then
relax With the confidence that
her fur will be completely pro-
tected. We pick up, clean, glaze
and completely protect the furs.
Next fall our client's' furs will
be ready and cleaned in all their
original beauty."

women.

A group of food editors, repre-

the B. Manischewitz Company
at the firm's Jersey City plant.
The occasion was an open house
reception, arranged in response
to requests by the editors to
visit the world's largest matzo
bakery and see it in operation
at the height of its preparations
for Passover.
Following their tour of the
plant, D. Beryl
M a n i s chewitz,
chairman of the
board of the
firm, served as

LONDON—Althougl. the Brit-
ish Foreign Office has refrained
from making comment on the
Israel-Syrian dispute, circles
close to the Foreign Office refuse
to accept Israel's point of view
that the demilitarized zone is
Israeli territory and therefore
subject to Israeli civilian con-
trol. These circles suggest that
administrative problems raised
in relation to the area must be
solved by agreement through
the Mixed Armistice Commis-
sion.
During a debate in Commons
Monday night, Under Secretary
for Foreign Affairs Kenneth
Younger reiterated the British

government's view that while
the Palestine Arab refugees who
wish to return to their former
homes have the right to do so,
it is in the interest of the refu-
gees themselves that the major-
ity of them should be resettled
in the neighboring Arab coun-
tries. He said that the British
government, which has indi-
cated this position in the United
Nations, has found that this
view is shared "to a considerable
extent" by other states repre-
sented in the UN.
