post of Director-General of the

Appeal to Congress
For Swift Action on
.$1,500,000 Aid Bill

NEW YORK (JTA)—An ap-
peal for quick passage by Con-
gress of the joint bill, introduced
under bi-partisan sponsorship,
for a grant-in-aid of $150,000,000
to the state of Israel was voiced
by Benjamin G. Browdy, presi-
dent of the Zionist Organization
of America, addressing a meet-
ing of the national executive
committee of the ZOA, at the
Waldorf-Astoria Hot e I, The
meeting was attended by about
100 members from all parts of
the country.
Browdy also stressed the urg-
ent need of aiding the United
Jewish Appeal and supporting
the Israeli bond issue of $500,-
000,000 which will be offered in
the United States on May 1st.
The meeting was also addressed
by Rabbi Abba Silver and by
the two General Zionist Israeli
leaders, Joseph Serlin and Major
Shalom Zysman, now on a visit
to this country.

Czech Film Depicting Nazi
Brutality Slated by Center

The Czech movie' "Distant
Journey" (Ghetto Terezin) , de-
scribed as the most powerful
story yet filmed of Nazi brutal-
ities against the Jews, will be
brought to Detroit for two show-
ings on May 17 and May 20, by
the department of adult educa-
tion of the Jewish Center.
Tickets are being distributed
to organizations by Harry Katz,
supervisor of the department.
Organizations m a y purchase
tickets in blocks of 10 or more,
at half the door price.
