Women's League
Seeks Candidates
For 1951 Awards

League of Jewish Women's
Organizations is currently seek-
ing candidates for the 1951
Mildred Simons Rosenberg a-
ward, which each year is pre-
sented to a young man or wom-
an, between 16 and 21, who have
shown outstanding leadership,
scholarship and participation in
community affairs.
Mrs. Robert S. Drews, award
chairman, and Mrs. David Kliger,
League president, request that
presidents -of all constituent or-
ganizations submit names and
qualifications for the commit-
tee's consideration not la ter

The closing meeting of the
League and its 110 affiliated
organizations will be held at
12:30 p.m., May 9, at Adas
Shalom Synagogue: A luncheon-
ette will be served, announced
Mrs. Maier FinsterWald, program
chairman.
The League has been working
in close cooperation with the
Office of Civil Defense in volun-
teer work and war activities.
One of the major projects is
the Serve - a - hospital plan, in
which the League is servicing
the Veterans Hospital at Iron
Mountain, Mich.
Working through the Women's
Organization of the National
Jewish Welfare Board, the
League sends shipments of items
to aid in the comfort, recreation
and rehabilitation of veterans.
Packages of sundry goods are
sent by mail and are distributed
on a non-sectarian basis. Mrs.
Samuel B. Danto, chairman of
the League project, asks inter-
ested organizations to contact
her.

Starting 37 years ago with ac-
commodations for only nine
guests, the Grossinger Hotel and
Country Club, popular resort at
Grossinger, N.Y., has expanded
to such a degree
that it now ac-

its 27 buildings.

A prize of $250 for the best
essay on communal responsibil-
ity for Jewish Education, to be
published in 1951, has been of-
fered by Mr. and Mrs. Isador S.
Turover of Washington, D.C., as
the "ISADOR S. AND BESSIE
TUROVER LITERARY AWARD"
to be administered by the Amer-
ican Association for Jewish
Education.
