Honor Hyman Wiener
On Departure for Israel

The Labor Zionist movement
is arranging a farewell evening
for Hyman Wiener, veteran La-
bor Zionist; on Saturday evening,
at the Labor Zionist Institute,
13722 Linwood.
Wiener, who is leaving to settle
in Israel on the LaGuardia on
April 25, has served actively on
the city committee of the Far-
band order, and has been a spir-
itiial guide to the Avrunin
Branch of Farband.
He has been a member of
Branch One, LZOA for forty
years, serving tirelessly on nu-
merous committees of the move-
ment, most prominently on the
board of the Jewish Folk Schools,
the central committee of LZOA
and the Histadrut Campaign.
Members of LZOA, friends and
relatives are invited to attend.

age of Judith Leonora Levin and
Bernard Jack Cantor was solem-
nized Sunday afternoon, March
25, at the home of the bride's
brother-in-law and sister, Mr.
and Mrs. Stanley B. Friedman
of Glendale Circle, Highland
Park, with Dr. A. M. Hershman
and Rabbi Morris Adler officiat-
ing. Judith is the daughter of
Prof. and Mrs. Samuel M. Levin
of Broadstreet Blvd. and Ber-
nard is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
A. J. Cantor of Brooklyn, N. Y.
The bride, who wore her sis-
ter's wedding gown and a full
length heirloom lace veil, was
attended by Mrs. Friedman as
matron of honor and little Joan
Friedman as flower girl.
Arthur Green of Brooklyn
served as best man and Edwin
Suib of Chicago and Barron
Clemons of Jackson, Mich., seat-
ed the guests.
Besides the bridegroom's par-
ents and members of the bridal
party out of town guests in-

ZEVE—JASEN. At a ceremony
March 10, at the Book-Cadillac
Hotel, Elaine Gloria Jasen,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nor-
man Ja,sen, of Woodingham Dr.,
was united in marriage to
George E. Zeve, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Ernest Zeve, of Cleveland,
0. Marilyn Jasen, sister of the
bride, served as maid of
honor. Daniel Joseph, brother-
in-law of the bridegroom, was
best man. Rabbi Adler officiated
at the ceremony, which was fol-
lowed by a reception in the
Italian Gardens. After a honey-
moon in New York, the young
couple is residing at 1026 Chest-
nut St., Columbus, Ind., where
Mr. Zeve is stationed at nearby
Camp Atterbury.

Belkin-Handelsman: Mrs. An-
na Handelsman announces the
marriage of her daughter, Rosa-
lyn Marie, to Murray Belkin, on
March 15, at a private service
at which Rabbi Morris Adler
officiated. After a trip to Flor-
ida they will be at home at 2725
W. Boston.

Hadassah Slates Group Meetings

A variety of programs will be
presented at the April meetings
of Hadassah's ten groups. These
are the last group meetings of
the current season, which con-
cludes with , the annual Chap-
ter meeting in May. All groups
will gather on April 10, 12:30
p.m. with the exception of Uni-
versity East, which meets on
April 17.
A brisk musical skit, entitled
"Here's How," with Mrs. Jack
Miller at the piano, will be the
Bagley Group's chief feature at
the Carmel Hebrew School.
Central East will meet at the
Halevy Music Center, Linwood
at Fleet, with a luncheonette,
Hadassah supplies shower and a
movie tour through Israel.
The Bnai Moshe Synagogue
will be the scene of Central
West's meeting, which opens
with a child welfare luncheon,

and will entertain with "Hadas-
sah Members of 1965," featur-
ing Young Judea at work.
A musical parody of Gilbert
and Sullivan's "Trial by Jury,"
written by Mrs. Samuel Grand-
on, will be produced by mem-
bers of Russell Woods East, at
the Rose Sittig Cohen Bldg. A
child welfare luncheon and Ha-
dassah supplies shower will be
part of the program.
Russell Woods West will pre-
sent, at Young Israel Center on
Dexter, "Hadassah Through the
Looking Glass," highlighting the
Youth Commission and a Ha-
dassah supplies shower.
Other programs will be an-
nounced next week. The annual
election of group officers and
board members also takes place
at the April meetings.

will speak on "America and the
Crisis of Our Times."
_Members and friends are in-
vited, and are requested to bring
merchandise for the Council's
resale shops, from which pro-
ceeds benefit community and
welfare activities.
The lecture is a return trip for
Lerner, _who spoke at a Council
meeting last year. Since, he has
spent a summer traveling
through Europe and. Israel,
which he has featured in his
columns in the New York Post.
Lerner is the author of "It Is
Later Than You Think," "Ideas
Are Weapons" and "America as
a Civilization," his latest work.
He is a faculty member of the
New School for Social Research
and is a professor of American
Civilization at Brandeis Univer-
sity. The program was arranged
in cooperation with the Jewish
Center Lecture Bureau of the
Jewish Welfare Board.

A city-wide cannister canvass
will be conducted by the Detroit
Pioneer Women on April 8 to
collect funds for the care of in-
fant children and youth in -Is-
rael. The project sanctioned by
President Chaim Weizmann,
president of Israel, and the Jew-
ish Agency, is called World Jew-
ish Child's Day.
Pioneer Women, along with its
sister organization, M o a t z o t
Hapoalot, women's volunteer or-
ganization in Israel, care for,
educate and provide for the well
being of thousands of Youth
Aliyah children through various
day nurseries, children's homes
and youth villages.
The local committee is headed
by Martha Schechter, chair-
man; Mina Herman, co-chair-
man; Sara Levin, Estelle Wilk,
MM Hurwitz, Mae Berman, Lil-
lian Zeldis, Helen. Turkel, Fay
Plotnick, Fay Rovin, Helen Pos-
