THE JEWISH NEWS-19 Friday, March 23, 1951 UN Reprimands Israel After Border Skirmish (JTA)-The Is- JERUSAT rael - Jordan Mixed Armistice Commission condemned t h e Israeli shelling of an Arab town in southern Palestine in the course of a recent two-day battle with a band of infiltrat- ing Arabs. The commission also held Jordan responsible, • but to a lesser extent, for the action of its citizens in violating Israel's frontiers, and ordered the im- mediate clear demarcation of the Israel-Jordan frontier in the region in order to avert new incidents. Arab Legionnaires for the frst time took action against ma- rauding Arabs returning to Jordan territory after a raid in Israel. The Jordan troops fired on the bands, wounding one, and returned stolen cattle to the Jews. Arabs from Syria fired on Israeli workers engaged in draining the Huleh swamp in eastern Galilee. Israeli guards returned the fire and the Arabs fled. There were no casualties. Direct telephone service be- tween Israel and Jordan was re- opened for the use of command- ers of Israeli and Jordanian military units un attempts to help avert border incidents. Walt Disney's 'Alice': Fine Children's Book Simon and Schuster, the in- genious publishers whose chil- dren's books have captured the imagination of young and old, in presenting "Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland," based on the Disney movie, state: "Now Walt Disney has found the perfect heroine. He has dipped his paint brush into full color to create a true Wonder- land on all 32 pages of this book." Since this is not an exaggera- tion, this reviewer quotes it. The Walt Disney book is a splendid example of Simon-Schuster su- periority in children's book pub- lishing. We recommend it high- ly-for its fine illustrations and text.
