People Make News
Last week, the members of
the Science Club were bursting
with excitement in anticipation
of their field trip to the Great
Lakes Steel Company. Seventeen
members of the club, under the
sponsorship of Mr. Smith, were
taken on a guided tour through
the plant, seeing the steel pro-
duced, literally, "from birth to
adulthood." The tour w a s so
successful that the members are
looking forward to their next
project with great enthusiasm.
The "Hobo Hop," given by the
Central Student Council, was a
big success. There was a very
good representation and the en-
tertainment, which was some-
times hard to hear, well planned
Since the "Centralite," our
school yearbook, is now on sale,
I think this is an appropriate
time to say that I've heard the
book is going to be a wonderful
example of the type of work
Central can put out. Rumor has
it that the cover is going to be
terrific and so will the contents.
I'• sure every student will want
it this year.
The girls' swimming team won
the first meet of the season,
from Western High. The score
was 65 - 55, Minna Wisenfeld, Ju-
dith Silverman and Marie Bene-

know the girls will keep up the
good work.

Young Israel to Hold
Fourth Purim Carnival,
First at New Center
Young adults of Young Israel
will present their Purim Car-
nival Saturday for the fourth
successive year. The new Youth
Center will be used in its en-
tirety for the first time to make
room for an expected large
turnout.
Harold Platt, chairman, an-
nounced that since Purim is a
joyous occasion, all activities
will be in the spirit of the cele-

outstanding in both variety and
quality, he stressed, and every
person attending should receive
at least one.
Cooperating with the Young
Adults have been the Women's
League, many youth groups and
the Young Israel Organization.
More booths and games have
been planned than in any prev-
