Cantor Kusevitsky Feattired at Drive
For Israel Histadrut Funds in Detroit

Moshe Kusevitsky, world's
greatest cantor, will be the
guest artist at the closing rally
and demonstration of the 1951
Detroit Israel Histadrut Cam-
paign on March 25, in the Music
Hall.
Akiva Govrin, one of the lead-
ing parliamentarians in Israel
and chairman of
the Labor Rela-
o n s Commis-
sion of the
Knesset, and
Rabbi Morris
Adler, of Cong.
Shaarey Zedek,
will be the guest
speakers.
Ad mission
Kusevitsky cards have been
distributed to Histadrut cam-
paign workers and delegates of
affiliated organizations and may
also be obtained in the Hista-
drut office, 13722 Linwood.
Dr. Herman Pomrenze, direc-
tor of Kupat Holim convalescent
home in Israel, will address a
pre-closing rally Thursday eve-
ning at the Labor Zionist In-
stitute.
The Labor Zionist Organiza-
tion forged ahead, leading the
entire Labor Zionist movement
with 86% of last year's amount.
Bed Frymer, general secretary
of LZQA, praised local branches
for their exemplary work in be-
half of the campaign at last
Thursday's rally.
LZOA branches 3, 6 and 10 are
well over the 90% mark and
have set an inspiring pattern
of campaign organizatiOn. The
Histadrut branch chairmen are:
L. Linsky, L. Rosenberg, M.
Kane, Dr. A. Sanders, A. Gorn-
bein and S. Fields.
The Pioneer Women's Clubs
and team have reached 84%
with indications that they will
surpass their quota. Campaign
workers who have distinguished
themselves during the campaign
are: Mesdames P. Cooper, E.
Krieger, R. Linsky, I. Browne,
Yendick, G. Fleischer, C.
Berman,- M. Huppert, S. Pine,
F. Schreier. Mrs. Anna Michlin

led the Pioneer Women's divi-
sion.
With the Histadrut campaign
nearing an end, Morris L.
Schave r, honorary campaign
chairman, issued an urgent ap-
peal. to all campaign workers
and 'Histadrut chairmen to re-
double their efforts during the
final weeks of the campaign.
"The continued support for
Israel and the Histadrut is vital
to the success of the producti-
vization of newcomers in Israel,"
Schaver declared.

Gold Star Parents
Pay Tribute to 2

At a luncheon on Sunday, the
Gold Star Parents of the Jewish
War Veterans tendered testi-
monials to two individuals who
have made special contributions
to the organization. Honored
were Mrs. Fan Hencken, a mem-
ber of the Auxiliary of Sholom
JWV Post, and Walter E. Klein,
assistant director of the Jewish
Community Council.
The citation to Mrs. Hencken
was for her work in assembling
the names and photographs of
Michigan's Jewish war dead, for
the display in the Memorial
Room of the new JWV building
on W. Davison. Klein was hon-
ored for his preparation of the
brochure issued by the Gold
Star Parents on the occasion of
their recent memorial dinner
and for preparing other written
material in behalf of the organ-
ization.
Principal speaker was Rabbi
Morris Adler. Meyer Silverman
presided.

Dr. Ginzberg to Be
Third Wayne Hillel
Lecturer March 20

Dr. Eli Ginzberg, associate
professor of economics at Co-
lumbia University Grad u a t e
School of Business, whose recent
book, "Agenda for American
Jews," created a sensation, will
deliver the third annual Hillel
Lecture at Wayne University, at
8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, in
Room 101 of State Hall, Cass
and Merrick. The lecture is
sponsored jointly by Bnai Brith
Hillel Foundation and Wayne's
department of sociology.
The annual Hillel lectures,
made possible by a grant of the
Greater Detroit Bnai Brith -
Council, bring to the university,
Jewish scholars of renown who
have made a contribution inves-
tigating the place of Jewish tra-
dition in all its facets in the
pattern of Western civilization
and in American life in particu-
lar.
The lecture will be open to the
interested, public without charge.
It will be followed by a recep-
tion for Dr. Ginzberg at Hillel
House; 4841 Second.

Vice-President ALBEN BARKLEY is awarded the 1950 Histadruf
Humanitarian Award by JOSEPH SCHLOSSBERG, general
chairman of the National Committee for Labor Israel. The
vice-president was honored for his aid to Israel and the Histad-
rut. Left to right are: HARRY GREENBERG . and JOSEPH
BRESLAW, vice-presidents of the International Ladies Garment
Workers' Union; Mr. Barkley; Mr. Schlossberg and ISAAC HAM-
LIN, general secretary of the $10,000,000 Israel Histadrut cam-
paign.
