Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Levin of Strathcona Dr. will leave on
Wednesday fOr a stay in Hollywood Beach, Fla.
Dr. Willard Mayer of Boston Blvd. has returned from a cruise
of the West Indies on the S. S. NieW Amsterdam.
Mr..and Mrs. Louis B. Heavenrich of Mendota Ave are spend-
ing a few weeks in Cocoa, Fla., where they are visiting his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. John A. Heavenrich. Also spending a week with the
Heavenrich's are their grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. John Kaichen
of Huntington Woods.
Mr. and Mrs. Leon G. Winkelinan of Fairfield Ave. have re-
turned from a stay at Coronado Beach, Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Shiffman of Shrewsbury Rd. left on
Thursday for a stay in the Virgin Islands.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence J. Michelson of Strathcona Dr. are
expected home on Monday from Miami Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Welt of Whitmore Rd. left on Monday
for a visit in California.
Dr. and Mrs. Thomas B. Marwil and their son, Brand, have
moved from Normandy Ave. and are now residing at 8049 Hendrie
Ave., Huntington Woods.
Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Ginn of Birchcrest Dr. have returned
from a week's stay in Palm Beach, Fla..
Mrs. Arthur Bloom of Gloucester Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Fenton
of Oak Dr. are spending the week in New • York.
Mrs. Leonard Simons of Parkside Ave. left on Wednesday for
Los Angeles, where she will visit with members of her family.
Mr. Simons is planning to leave next Friday to join her, and to-
gether they will go to Arizona for a few weeks' stay.
Miss Helen Solomon of Glynn Ct. has returned from Miami,
Fla., where she was the guest of her brother-in-law and sister,
-Mr. and Mrs. Leo Krauss.
Mrs. C. G. Wyckoff of New York is the guest of her brother-
in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Cooper of Chicago Blvd.
Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Kelter of Cherrylawn Ave. left on
Wednesday for a few weeks' stay in Miami Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Lieberman of Birchcrest Dr. have re-
.turned from California where they spent the month visiting with
members of their family.
Dr. and Mrs. Leo Oreklin of Oak Dr. left on Saturday for a
visit in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Levy of Wildemere Ave. left on Tuesday
for a stay in Miami Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis M. Hinderstein of Fairfield Ave. have re-
turned from a West Indies Cruise on the S. S. Niew Amsterdam.
-Mr. and Mrs. Edward Katz and daughters, Janet and Barbara,
have moved from Burlingame Ave. and are now residing at 17198

Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Greenspoon of Pennington Dr. left on
Tuesday for Miami Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Keene of Cambridge Rd. who have been
vacationing in Arizona have gone on for a visit in California.
Dr. and Mrs. Nathan Goldberg of Huntington Woods left on
Monday for a five weeks' visit in Mexico.
Mr. and Mrs. B. J; Goldman of the Wilshire are spending a
few weeks in Miami Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fisher of Vassar Dr. are vacationing in
Phoenix, Ariz.
Mrs. M. H. Prince and daughters, Sally and Jo Anne, have
moved to the Wilshire Hotel.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Kaplan, of Westmoorland Rd., Ypsilanti,
left Monday for a month's visit in Miami Beach.

Major Organizations to Sponsor
Campaign Conference on April 4

Nine major Jewish organiza-
tional groupings will be invited
to participate in a city-wide
planning conference on Sunday
afternoon, April 8, at the Davi-
son Jewish Center, in behalf of
the 1951 .Allied Jewish Cam-
paign, Leon Kay announced this
week after meeting with organ-
ization representatives. Mr. Kay
is chairman of the Organiza-
tions Division in the 1951 Cam-
paign—the same post which he
held lastyear.
Among the groupings to par-
ticipate in the Detroit Planning
Conference are Bnai Br i t h
lodge s, Zionist organizations,
Landsmanschaften and Work-
men's Circle branches, Jewish
War Veterans, Americln Jewish
Congress chapters, Amer ican
Jewish Committee chapters,
Congregations, Jewish Labor
Committee, and social, frater-

nal, cultural and labor groups.
The program for the confer-
ence will center on the 1951
loca 1, national and overseas
needs and the role of organiza-
tions in the campaign.

will be observed in Detroit on
Sunday afternoon, May 13, it
was announced by the joint
committee of the Jewish
Community Council and the
Zionist Council.
The State Fair Coliseum
has been .reserved for the
event and a request is made
of all organizations to refrain
from arranging events on
that day.

A dynamic father - son team
this week will embark upon a
most interesting career that will
mark the expansion of their
market into another fast-grow-
ing area.
After 20 years of active busi-
ness on Dexter, which has re-
sulted in the establishment of
one of the best known enter-
prises in the city—the Dexter-
Davison Market—Norman Cot-
tler, in partnership with his son,
Reuben, next Thursday will open
the long-awaited market on
Wyoming and Curtis.
Norman Cottler has had a
most interesting career. As a
member of the. Jewish Legion,
he fought in Palestine in 1917
and 1918 under General Allenby
and Captain Vladimir Jabotin-
sky,' and remained in Palestine
in 1919.
An enterprising merchant, he
has gained a large following
here not only through the serv-
ice he has rendered in the Dex-
ter-Davison Market but also be-
cause of his fine record of serv-
ice to the Labor Zionist move-
ment and to the Histadrut cam-
paigns.
For 14 years a leader in the

Arlazaroff branch of Jewish
National Workers' Alliance, he
has been for more than 10
years among the most active
workers in the Gewerkshaften
—the Labor Zionist drive
known under the name Israel
Histadrut Campaign. Last year
he was named the Histadrut
Man of the Year. He is this
year's treasurer of the Detroit
Israel Histadrut Campaign.

His son, Reuben, who joined
him in his business fOur years
ago, served in the U. S. army for
four years. The Reuben Cottlers
have a tWo-and-a-half-year-old
son, Steven Elliott. The Norman
Cottlers also have a daughter,
Mrs. Bernard Cohen.

Market and the Curtis Drug Co.
Isaac Goldstein, owner of the
Goldstein Bakery, was in busi-
ness on Dexter Blvd. for 16 years.
He is operating his new bakery,
adjoining the Cottler's Market,
at 18217 Wyoming, where his
new bakery is doing its own
baking twice daily. -
Curtis Drug and Kaplan
Meats are associated with the
new Cottler enterprise.
The Curtis Drug Co. is oper-
ated by Sidney Adis and his
partner, Irving Stevens. The .two
met at Wayne University where
they attended pharmacy school
together. After interruption be-
cause of the war, the .two men
worked for a leaeding drug store
chain. This is their first business
venture.
The Kaplan Brothers have
long been known to Detroiters
for their fine quality meats. For
fifteen years they operated a
store on 12th street, off Euclid.
Saul and Seymour are both
married, and Seymour has two
boys. Their meat store(on one
side of the Cottler's market, is
at 18211 Wyoming.

will be held at 1 p.m., March 19,
